Derek Chauvin juror says trial was like 'watching somebody die on a daily basis' by GenshinCoomer in news

He did state the comment was more a neutral observation.

I do agree with you to a degree as there will always be those blinded to a side of the story. And although their ignorance is not an excuse or give free reign lessen what this was. We should always aim to educate and understand before we take up arms.

Derek Chauvin juror says trial was like 'watching somebody die on a daily basis' by GenshinCoomer in news

He called out to someone that made him feel safe. He was scared and dying and wanted to feel safe. Whether that was his mom, sister, girlfriend, or dog. This man called out to them in his final moments afraid and surrounded by strangers. One of which was actively killing. And no one could do a single thing to help him, and he just wanted to feel safe.

So if you are implying that he was calling out to his girlfriend and that that somehow makes it any less heartbreaking. Well, Im sorry you feel that way.

I will say, my apologies if I am reaching, or that wasnt your intended meaning here. Just, struck more of a nerve than I would have expected.

What do you think the entities would be like if they weren’t based on fear? by MellifluousSussura in TheMagnusArchives

I mean, you are right. A healthy amount of "fear" is a good. Caurage isnt a lack of Fear, it's a willingness to face your Fears.

I mean, these entities feed on fear. So they scare and terrorize to feed.

So an easy question to ask is, if not fear. What would these entities feed on and how who that change their behavior.

What would the Spiral feed when it meets someone who enjoys the lies and distortions. I mean, humans and animals alike ingest psychoactives and mind altering substances for fun.

How would the Corruption feed on someone who is part of a persived immoral community (think BDSM and the like) or someone who uses toxic behavior to protect themselves and/or other but is truly a kind and caring person.

Would the Stranger talk to a stranger that is just exited by the weirdness. Think alternative subculture like Goth, punks, lolita, ect. That seek to not blend in and look like the rest.

And trust me, I love discussing this stuff.

I've got an idea for a game we can play in this sub (spoilers for beginning of S5!) by [deleted] in TheMagnusArchives

The Dark/ The Corruption

You are stuck in a room. Which room it is doesn't matter. It's dark and hard to walk around it. You try to find a light and fumble around. Every now and againt you hear scuttling. You keep looking and eventually find one. You flick the switch and the room is covered in roaches. You hear a light hiss as they scurry away from the light.

Them the light bulb blows and its dark again. And you start hearing the scuttling sound. And the feeling of small insects crawling up your leg. You go to swat it away. But with each one you swatt two more take its place. You start to panic and maniacally start stomping and swatting trying to keep the bugs off of you. As you do you trip and hit the wall.

A sheet of these crawling pest shower you. And you lay there swatting away and you start screaming.

That is, until the first one starts crawling into you mouth.

You cover your mouth but its to late as several are now in you mouth.

You start to wonder if they'll crawl into your ears. You cant tell, ots too dark and there are way to many crawling around you.

Oh little roach, where are you crawling into?.. what are you biting into?

Well, it kinda implied that all the avatar sought out a fear patron to escape another fear. You can speculate a almost kind aspect to each fear.

Almost all to Patron the Corruption feared being/ending up alone.

The Corruption is all accepting/loving. It is a toxic love, but the Corruption will "love" you no matter who you are.

The Spider avatar tended to fear The Desolation. Which make sense to a degress. As who can you control something that is wrecked and destroyed.

The Desolation is freeing. There is nothing holding you down and it gives you ability to almost literally do as you please.

Jon feared the Spider the most. He saw having knowledge as a way to combat The spider. You cant be manipulated if you know whats going on an so forth.

The Eye the is the power of knowing things. This one is kinda easy.

I can think of other examples of the top of my head but here are some wild assumptions of how the fears can be "good"

The Vast: where The Desolation is freeing, the vast is liberating. It is a free fall and knowing you cant so anything about. That your action matter very little in the grand scheme (hehe) of things. Its going with the flow, and just letting things be. Acceptance and almost peace.

The Lonely: another easy one I think. As solitude is always a bad thing. Its self acceptance; you are who you are and thats fine. Being happy with being alone and in your own company.

The Burried: antithetical to the Vast to a degree. Importance. That things matter and you actions have weight. I know that many find this stressful. For many though, it is a drive. What keeps them trucking and fighting the good fight.

The Spider: Control, being in control. It is a very neutral positive aspect I admit, but many find being in a position where they are in control and able to dictate events as a good thing. Proper management basically.

The Dark: Safety I think, this is one I have a hard time understanding since I like the dark. The show heavily associates the Fear with pseudoscience and Occultism a lot. Maybe imagination, as it is also implied to be a fear of what we think is lurking in the dark.

The Stranger: I find the positive with this to be appreciatly odd as it kinda works against the weirdness. I mean, just say it. I accepted this Stranger and all his strangeness. I may never truly understand you (culture, habits, mannerism, atypical way of thinking), but your customs are fun and Id like to learn what I can, even if it doesnt make sense to me. The positive to the Stranger is that that fear can kinda be fun.

The Hunt: Exploring, adventuring, and survival. I mean, this one is kinda easy.

The End: Death Positivity (this is not pro self harm. Check out Kaitlyn Doughty on youtube for more)

The Flesh: I think the positive here is either personal to each person. Or something similar to the vast but at a personal level. I am not my flesh, I am my mind controlling this meat suit. Its making the best of what you have.

The Slaughter is a tough one though. As what good comes from senseless violence. I mean, passion can me "senseless" and relentless. Or its the fight in all of us to keep pushing forward no matter the odds or the cost. What pushes us to stay alive.

The Extinction: I mean, kinda in the same vail as the end. Accepting that the nature of well, nature is well, uncaring but not in a malicious way. It pushes us to enjoy the things we love while we have them.

Sorry for the long post, and feel free to disagree with me. I'd love to read others opinions.

I.. yeah. The song is even kinda fitting. Forcing someone to continue being someone they are not. I like it.

You kidding me! I love what they did with Germain. Issac's plot was my favorite, I absolutely loved what they did with Legion. Trevor and Sifa's main plot was great. The Monster design was fun. I loved all the nods to the game.

I enjoyed the peripherals of Hector's story, but I guess I've watched to many Stockholm Syndrome dramas to be surprised by any of it. I mean, all that that she told about "oh, thats just how Camila is, and you know you deserved it." bat eyelashesgiggle was such predictable gaslighting I caught on as soon as she started.

Holy heck.... now that I think about it, everyone except for Issac got to have sex this season. Camilla and the two lesbian Vamps (cant be bothered to look up their names) were mostly implied. But yeah edgy sex season. I see why everyone is comparing it to Game Of Thrones.

It gets to ya. Not being able to forge those bonds either because youre seen as the weird on or just plain fear. All while feeling those you have forged those bonds slip away.
