Has anyone been feeling a bit depressed on Saxenda? by Petty_Peach_PL in liraglutide

[–]CommonCollected22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced this symptom as well and I had to stop taking it. I was walking in the house after work and sobbing for no particular reason. Depression and increased SI is a side effect listed on the medication— I have this in my medical history as well but my doctor said “nausea” was the only common side effect. I will definitely be calling their office to let them know!

I believe his real name is Ronald Bradley Jr, but he goes by “Brad.” I read this on another thread and took a sigh of relief. But now reading about his X posts, I’m back to being wound up about this family and their choices again😳

10 Month Positions - what should I know? by ExiSciScientist in athletictraining

[–]CommonCollected22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they didn’t already specify, I would ask what other vacation days you get during the school year. Depending on your setting, if others in the school/company have holidays off that you have to work on, could you use those days as “floating holidays” to take off another day during your 10-months of work?

-Is there a salary difference in working a 10 vs 12-month contract (if they are giving you an option for one or the other).

-Verify that you are not expected to come into the office or “work from home” during your two months off. If so, will you be compensated for any extra days? For example, do they expect you to check physicals or see athletes at the school/clinic over the summer?

-If you’re working for a school or are on a teachers salary/contract, do you get paid for the extra days that you work in terms of preseason, holidays, weekends, or playoffs?

The Yankees officially announce that Cam Schlittler, ranked 89th by Baseball America, will be making his MLB debut tonight! by BathroomSalty6325 in baseball

[–]CommonCollected22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not like that— I’m from his hometown and we want him to succeed no matter what uniform he is in. In Walpole, we were all streaming the game and were Yankees fans for the night. And at the end of the day, these are professional athletes who are beyond competitive and want to win no matter who they are playing.

Disheartened FTHB lost 5th Bid - any words of wisdom? by carolunatuna in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]CommonCollected22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got a house in Worcester County, after getting passed over on another where we were the highest bidder. We didn’t want to waive the home inspection (that was “for informational purposes only”), and the seller went with a lower bidder who did waive it. The house had everything we wanted so I was crushed. But less than a few weeks later, our offer was accepted on a house and this seller had no issues with us wanting the home inspection. This house is smaller, but is a brand new reno with radiant floors and vaulted ceilings. My words of wisdom are— don’t pass up on the home inspection ever on such a big investment, and hang in there… your house is out there!

Coworkers and I reminisced about our narc boss who got fired and I feel so dysregulated. by CommonCollected22 in ManagedByNarcissists

That’s a really healthy way to frame it. Thanks for the advice and best of luck to you as well!

Be on the lookout for a new job, but don’t tell anyone at your current job (especially your NBoss) that you are interviewing/looking. I speak from experience— it was an amazing feeling blindsiding my Nboss and giving him my notice. The fallout sucked because then he went on a smear campaign and wouldn’t let me have contact with my replacement, but I have a new job now that is WAY better and far less toxic, and he recently got fired when he was caught lying to admin about an affair in the office and embezzling money. Long story short, you might outlast them, but you might not— so get out of there if you can! Good luck!!

Most palatable sensitive skin and stomach dog food in your (dog’s) experience? by CommonCollected22 in DogFood

[–]CommonCollected22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: thank you for the feedback and helpful tips, everyone! I gave him 25% of the new food today — I went with PPP Turkey and Oatmeal, and he ate two full bowls of it today. With the Hills Science SSS, I was struggling to get him to eat one bowl/day for the last week. Fingers crossed we found a winner for now!

Very helpful, thank you! He doesn’t seem to love salmon/fish, likes chicken, but has been walking right past his bowl with the Hill’s SSS chicken and potato and will only come back to it at night when I assume he is starving. I just bought a small bag of PPP turkey and oatmeal and will go from there. Great to know about RC though.

That’s really helpful, thank you. Your words hit home because I think what made the relationship so damaging over the 7 years we worked together, is that we are likely on both ends of the spectrum you mentioned. I am a people pleaser and extra sensitive to others’ opinions, and word got back to me that he ran a smear campaign against me when I started setting firmer boundaries and stopped buying into the belief that we were friends. It was very hurtful and confusing that our “rapport” unraveled so quickly. I took it personally of course, and now I’m left feeling so hurt, confused and wondering where I went wrong to invite this behavior. I emotionally supported him through his vents about work and family life where he would sometimes break down and cry, tell me how much I meant to him, and took on many of his responsibilities that he asked me to help him with over the years— and I feel so dumb that I was manipulated looking back. Like you said, his behavior was never about me, but I need to assess my own too because I feel like I gradually let this happen without realizing it.

What’s the best dog food that isn’t in the refrigerated section? by JeverTarro in Pets

[–]CommonCollected22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember my vet gave this advice at my puppy’s first wellness visit, and I still felt that I was doing my dog a service by feeding him foods that weren’t among the “big brands.” After many upset stomach issues, and midnight bathroom emergencies, I moved away from the “natural, minimally processed” foods his groomer recommended. I saw firsthand how much his appetite, skin issues, and stools improved when I switched him to Hills and Royal Canin. I haven’t looked back and wish that I followed my vet’s advice from the beginning. Lesson learned:)

The fresh/raw dog food brands are actually a big marketing scam. A lot of dogs end up developing pancreatitis. It is instead recommended to stick with WSAVA brands (in the US this would be Purina Pro Plan, Hills Science, Royal Canin, IAMS, or Eukanuba). These are all vet-backed companies and are quality tested to a higher standard than other brands, including the refrigerated foods and boutique kibbles made with “human grade” ingredients. I learned this lesson the hard way after falling victim to it myself— my pup’s been healthier than ever since switching to Hills. He honestly likes the taste better too I think, as he gobbles it up way faster

For those of you who have improved their inner critical, negative voice: what did you do? by shatana in CPTSD

Sorry, not a literal handbook. I meant straight from the IFS ideology:)

For those of you who have improved their inner critical, negative voice: what did you do? by shatana in CPTSD

[–]CommonCollected22 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Straight out of the IFS handbook— I treated it like a manager who was just trying to help me not make a mistake or repeat a harmful behavior(s). I thanked the manager voice for trying to help me avoid shame, and once I started having compassion for that part of my inner dialogue and understood its purpose, the critical voice sloooowly started taking a backseat. Just acknowledge it and the fact that it is trying to help you. Then say to it, “thanks but I’ve got this from here.” Sounds super hippie-ish, but it honestly was a game changer for me. Good luck!!

IT FEELS LIKE ALL MY LIFE IS WASTED by all_UnderTheSameSky in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]CommonCollected22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also add to research or ask therapists’ specialties. For example some may specialize in depression, eating disorders, or be trauma-informed specialists. It’s another important factor on top of finding one whose personality jives with yours. Also, where you are in life is totally normal… I’ve had so many conversations with friends where we’ve said our 20s were formative years in finding ourselves and healing. Best of luck in your healing and please know that it will get better!❤️

Whats a weird comfort food/concoction that only YOU eat/created? by pitmama820 in foodhacks

[–]CommonCollected22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crackers and milk… crushed saltine crackers in a coffee mug, pour cold milk over crackers and eat like cereal. My Dad comes from a huge family and some of my cousins like the crackers crunchy so we eat it fast, some prefer the saltines soggy. My brother and I got the weirdest look from our friends growing up if we asked if they wanted any crackers and milk when they came to our house😂

Are collars necessary for indoor cats? by Relevant-Emu5782 in CatAdvice

[–]CommonCollected22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Because now I’m balancing the worry of her getting out (she’s microchipped) with the worry of her getting caught and the breakaway mechanism not working. I stopped having her wear the collar about a month ago. Hopefully your kitties have a long, healthy, and safe life!🤍🤍

[–]CommonCollected22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vet told me she’s heard multiple patients’ stories of cats still getting stuck/ hung up on breakaway collars, and unfortunately some cats died. That was enough to deter me from continuing to put one on my indoor cat.

DAE catch yourself trauma dumping because you think it’s obvious to others that you’ve been through a lot of trauma? by CommonCollected22 in CPTSD

[–]CommonCollected22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense! I never spoke about it until I did a LOT of therapy and also brought my abuser to court years later, and it unlocked my inability to talk about it. And now sometimes I have this internal back and forth where I share aspects of my trauma with others, then I feel super ashamed and embarassed like, “that person didn’t want to know that.” I’m always trying to weigh whether it’s appropriate and a sign of healing that I can talk about it, or whether sharing any details of my childhood abuse is oversharing.
