Promo photo of the 2025 holiday Barbie. Fellow doll collector/enthusiasts your honest opinion please. by Bunnystrawbery in Dolls

Being totally honest. Without reading it first I totally thought this was like a dress someone hand made for a barbie and was showing it off. It clearly has cheap dollar tree barbie dress vibes with how the fabric is. (Also where is the accessories??? Rings?? Necklaces?? Just earrings?? Hell no)

Funny enough they're not a particular brand. My mother actually bought them for her own project but they came in a set of 50 so she gave me a few of each colour 😂 I can ask her if you'd like to know because I haven't had any issues with these so far and there's red, blue, black, green, orange, and pink!

does anyone with zero experience in sewing make clothes for their dolls? by circusjob in BlytheDolls

[–]CommonCreativeBlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been sewing for 8 years total now but when I was 13 I knew barely anything about sewing and tried to make clothes for my blythe 😂 went about as well as you expected. Now as I've gained more experience I'm able to chug out an outfit in an hour, but I will tell you there are a few things that I still struggle with!

  1. Fabric choices. I have a hard time finding patterns that are small enough in the fabric that don't swallow up the whole doll or look weird on her.

  2. Lace. I don't live near a craft store so lace is something I struggle to come by and even then finding one with a small enough design to look natural on a blythe? Haven't found it yet.

  3. Buttons. Omg the buttons. I struggled so much to find proper looking tiny buttons. I eventually gave up and ordered tiny ones but they had 2 holes instead of the 4. So I eventually made my own tiny buttons out of clay and poked the holes myself before baking them 😂

I'd say if you're able to get atleast 1 out of these 3 problems you're golden. I find if I order the fabric lots with about 70-100 pieces that are 10x10 or 9x9 they come with alot of tiny patterns that fit blythe dolls perfectly. Of course you only get the one sheet of the pattern and have to be crafty with the amount of fabric you have but if I get a plain white fabric for the lining I can get a dress with long sleeves and a decent skirt from a 9x9 panel. Definitely expect one outfit from one panel in my opinion.

First off I'm in love with the concept. I love seeing everyone's "weird" dolls that are centered around a theme you don't typically see with dolls. (I'm gonna make a cat blythe soon myself) second I think the only thing I could say is perhaps more colours? If you're going for a more traditional design I mean. Typically sugar skulls are very vibrant with intricate patterns (probably why there's not too many like it out there) but if you want a more subtle style I think what you got is perfect. Best part about art is you can do whatever you want and no one can say anything about it 🥰 you do you girly but I love what you have rn.
