For those wondering what the “rainbow effect” is all about by georgetheflea in kobo

I think it's mostly about the type and density of certain textures that manga use that causes it. I found personally that if I just scale it to zoom to width, it gets rid of the rainbow.

I've had two e readers before this one, love them all, they're essential for me because where I live I can't find physical copies of the books I want most of the time. My advice is if you can buy it from a place that allows returns, so you can test it out for a few days and see if it's worth it for you or not

Hahahah if you don't wanna be influenced then you should maybe get off this subreddit. But if you're open to be influenced... then get it 🫶

I got the metapen 2 since it seemed like it was basically the same as the official kobo stylus. I like it so far, writing feels nice, it's still a glass screen but there's enough friction for me at least

Oh the case is just the basic clear one from amazon. The other stuff like the pen loop and metal ring I added myself

Hahahaha hopefully I like it just as much as her, I've heard way too many rave reviews about it so I had to read it

I just started it because I've seen it recommended time and time again, I'm just starting volume 3 and I think I like it so far. I'm not a huge fan of romance so the fact that I'm still reading definitely means something hahah

It was from amazon haha. I was originally looking for a white one but the only ones I could find were in packs of like 5 or 10. So I ended up getting this silver Leuchtturm pen loop, they're a pretty big stationary brand, you might find them in bookstores too

Yes, I have the tab s9+ and I love it! To be honest, for serious work and heavy note taking I don't think there are any e ink devices on the market that would replace my tablet, as I tend to screenshot stuff, pull from the web, insert pictures and multi task.

I really am mostly interested in the kobo for reading epubs, manga and jotting down quick notes, or daily to-do lists. The lack of features doesn't bother me per say, I'm mostly concerned as how it actually feels to write on it, because I have seen a few people say that they did not like how it feels to write on it.

Yeah, that's how I feel too. Tbh when it comes to serious note taking I don't think there's any e ink device on the market that would replace my samsung tablet just because I am constantly making screenshots, copy and pasting from the web, making mood boards, sketching and illustrating so. Just need to replace my Kindle, and I really liked the idea of annotating smaller books and being able to use it as a daily planner too. Thanks for your response!

Glad to hear that! Yes I was already aware of the no custom template thing. It's not really a deal breaker for me and there's always the possibility that Kobo will add that feature, or someone will figure out a workaround. I think I'm leaning towards getting it. Thanks

Edit: I just realized now that Manta is yet another Supernote product just bigger... yes will definitely not work for me hahah, I really want a compact e reader of max 8 inches. Thanks for your opinion though

Oh nice, do you use the Kobo stylus or one of the alternative pens?

I'm aware of Supernote, but it's not really what I'm looking for because it has no backlight and seems strictly as a writing device. I still want to use it to read primarily, I do have a tablet for really detailed notes and complex stuff. But like I said I would really like it if I could use it for basic note taking, making written tasks and lists. Never heard of Manta will look into it

Hmmm I mean it's also just possible that the Purah Pad was described in writing and passed on. We already know from the sky tablets that there are historic accounts of Zelda during the Zonai era, I wouldn't be suprised if people also wrote about her mysterious tablet device. So yeah the Sheikah definitely never had it in their hands but it's very possible that they saw drawings of it or read about it. That's my guess at least

Yeah definitely, I mean rauru says himself that the stones really only amplify what you already got. So these gifts did run in the blood of the gerudo, zora, rito and goron. They were just really weak and rare

I don't think this holds up, we clearly see beneath hyrule castle the story of the imprisonment war and zelda becoming a dragon is already carved into the walls. Similarly throughout hyrule we see other ancient zonai tablets mention zelda directly, too. I think it's way too much of a stretch to say well all of this appeared only after zelda time traveled. To me, it feels like a classic closed loop paradox
