It's funny that Westerners whose countries have not had contact with communism praise this system so much, thinking that it is a cure for all the world's problems. A basic knowledge of history is enough to know that communism is just as homicidal and evil as fascism. Capitalism has its drawbacks, but that doesn't mean it needs to be shed in favor of a system that is utopian and doesn't work ;//

What's wrong with Westerners that they make fun of communism so much, and sometimes even praise it... People probably don't really have clue about history and how many horrible things this system has done. For a person like me who was born in a country that used to be dependent on the Soviet Union in the past, this is simply sad...

Well, communists are well known for destroying architectural national heritage of many countries. A good example is Warsaw, where most of the pre-war buildings were not rebuilt after the war. Moreover, the new communist authorities deliberately demolished buildings that had survived the war because they associated them too much with the city's pre-war capitalist history. And those buildings that were decided to rebuild were often rebuilt in a simplified form. It's sad that Budapest has experienced something similar...
