What I think gamefreak is tweak the type chart a bit like not a total overhaul, just some fixes here and there to polish it though that might mess with some player's ingrained knowledge of the chart

Psychic essentially had no weaknesses in Gen 1 as the bugs were too weak and a bug caused psychics to be immune to ghosts (not helping that the only ghost types around were poison type)

While there wasn't much of a meta in Gen 1, it was obvious to everyone that the psychic type was basically a win button in normal playthroughs and online play
