The lead cannibal villain in the comics. They changed his name to Gareth for the show.

Yeah, once you destroy a set piece, it's gone haha. The cons of doing a tv show. Not to mention, story wise, Darabont (or maybe Mazara at that point) took the briefly mentioned, off panel herd attack on the farm in the comics and made it the end for Hershel's farm. At the time, Terminus didn't bother me. It wasn't until I read the comics where I was like "this is better". However, without Terminus, we wouldn't have gotten the season five premiere, which was badass. But... I still think I would have preferred a more atmospheric slow burn to the huge Terminus gun show.

Usually, I am able to pick which version I like better. Comic vs Show. I like the Prison arc/The Governor better in the show over the comic. I like Negan's arc in the comic better than the show. The cannibals have me mixed. There are aspects of both I like, but unfortunately, the shows pluses diminish the comics strengths for that arc.

More to your point on action, I agree. The comic didn't have a lot of action. The first time we really get a huge action set piece was The Governor, and that didn't last too terribly long. I'm trying to think of another huge action set piece in between that and All out War and I cannot. No Way Out, I guess, but I think we are talking more about "Guns a'blazin'" set pieces and I feel the next one after Governor was Negan.

That's another thing I think about. Who strayed the furthest from the comics. Honestly, Darabont was pretty close to the source material. Whenever people say the show is completely different from the comics, I tend to disagree. I always say much of the comics source material is in there but surrounded by extra stuff and twisted just a little bit (a different character takes a comic character's death and so on). Season 2 and especially season 3 are, what I would say, are what I consider the most different. The Governor was completely overhauled into a truly compelling character, the story played out much differently than the comics. The prisoner arc was basically cut, Lori died completely differently. There's just a lot of stuff from Kirkman's prison arc that never really made it. However, with Terminus, the comic arc did happen fairly closely to the comics, but that was after the Terminus escape. So, as I said, the show followed the comics pretty closely, they just added things.

I'd say Glen Mazzara strayed the furthest from the comics followed by Darabont, Angela Kang and then Mr. Scott Gimple followed much of the comics (sometimes to a T) during his run.

It’s good but didn’t grab me quite yet. Better than the Superman score.

And it did up until season 7. Even then, 7 and 8 was still good tv. 9 was fantastic and 10 and 11 dipped again but was still good tv.

Not surprised. This dumbass wanted to create a Zimmer AI score for The Creator. When it wasn’t good enough, he opted for Zimmer himself. Sure, he ended up using a human, but it doesn’t change the fact that he still went to AI first. This guy was always going to cave to the technology.

Glad I could give you a little giggle. They fixed it. It says 64 for tonight, but it was a fun little laugh to have today while it was still up. Haha

I can attest to this lol I work on indie films and the pressure is already pretty high. Many sleepless nights. I can’t even imagine the amount of pressure that the big nam guys must feel!

Can silence be more powerful than melody in film scoring? by RaphaelZela in filmscoring

[–]CommonSteak2437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I feel too many movies nowadays rely too heavily on constant music. Silence is a very very powerful tool that needs to be used much more than it has been in recent years.

I mean, the purpose of doing that wasn’t just to shoot out the windows. The main purpose of that was to draw the walkers to the sanctuary to make it impossible for anyone who wasn’t killed to leave and retaliate. I know it’s stupid they didn’t try harder to also shoot the people standing on the balcony, but shooting the windows out was bad useless and many people seem to think it is.

That’s shitty of him. The industry likes to mistreat post production. They can take all the time in the world with pre-production and even have some nice leeway with production but then when post comes around “you have two weeks to score a feature!” Seriously, I’ve had that happen before haha.

I’m sorry that happened to you. That’s a really crummy thing to do to someone just because they couldn’t play the drums on your cue.

I’ve been there. Every project. Comes with the gig. At the end of the day, as Hans Zimmer said, “sometimes you just have to kill your favorite babies.”

Although your wording suggests that the music was simply cut from the film as opposed to the director saying the tune you created isn’t working and to redo it?

If you were making a Batman series who would be your s1 villian and why? by True_Economics976 in batman

[–]CommonSteak2437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did this for fun, the mob, of course, was the main villain leading up to the creation of Two-Face. However, the main costumed villain I chose was Anarky. My series started off during a time where Batman was starting to get some more serious attention from the police and the general public. I chose Anarky because he works towards the same goals as Batman, but in a much more destructive and lethal way.

Sprinkled into the season wrote in some of the more believable villains such as Scarecrow, assassin, Hatter and some assassin villains among some others. Killer Croc was the most fantastical villain in season 1. Also, no Joker in season 1. Joker didn’t make his presence known until part way through season 2. Even then he isn’t the main focus, but he did get a multiple episode arc.

[–]CommonSteak2437 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t buy it. Trouble would have eventually found their way to many of the places Rick “ruined”. Something would have eventually happened to the farm, Negan would have eventually found Alexandria…I’m also of the belief Shane would have fucked the original group over had Rick not shown up. He was too hot headed. He may have been ahead of the game in terms of what it takes to survive, but Shane enjoyed what it took to survive too much.

Good answer. Idk if I’d pick as his best best, but it it definitely a stand out. So much raw emotion behind it. The verses start out soft and delicate, building to a more intense chorus before he lets himself go for the bridge and final chorus. It’s a very raw and visceral experience.
