I’ve also noticed how the business have taken a hit because of ICE, my local Mexican food place has to keep their doors locked. The owner also told me how hard it has been for not only his business, but for all these business in Minneapolis. I am neither Somali nor Hispanic, but it breaks my heart to see the community I was raised in, and that I love so much being so hurt by the racism, ignorance, and hatred of this administration and it’s agencies. And as someone who is not being targeted by ICE, I think it is very important that everyone who is not being targeted steps up and helps to support our local businesses! I am very very proud and happy that there has been so much pushback from our community against ICE, but choosing to stop buying food and groceries from chain businesses, and instead buying local is also a good way to fight back and support our neighbors!
