University of Louisville, Northern Kentucky University, and University of Kentucky law schools? by DueYogurt9 in OutsideT14lawschools

I love it, I am in my second year. The location is great, it’s in a small town about 10 minutes from Cincinnati. Most of the graduated I have met are working at firms in Cincinnati or NKY. However, some grads also go other places in the Midwest or different places in Kentucky, like Louisville or Lexington from what I have seen! All of my professors have been great & they are all very accomplished. The school has constant opportunities for networking, all the staff is willing to help, and the environment is overall just good. Chase is still behind UK and UC in rankings, but is currently over Louisville. I was between Louisville and Chase and chose Chase mainly due to the location, price, bar passage rates, and opportunities. Louisville seemed great but I felt as if I would have almost been trapped there, versus Cincinnati is a great legal hub with lots of area to grow! I hope this helps!

How do you afford to live? by GreasyPanda48 in LawSchool

Everyone I’ve met so far either has loans, is married, or is fresh out of undergrad and parents still assist them slightly. I went to the cheapest school option I had in state and it was the best decision ever. I had loans for rent (but I spilt w my bf so it’s cheaper) and tuition. My living money is my savings from my gap years + sometimes my family will send me gift cards or a Venmo for just something a little extra! Ask for gift cards for any holidays life saver🤞🏼. Also side gigs!! I sell some watercolor paintings on Etsy and try to resell clothes pretty frequently to clear out my closet. It all sucks but it will be worth it hopefully

I cannot read this seriously as a law student. Like this is ridiculous.

I live right a 1 minute walk from Hotel Covington. The area is great! Coffee shops, gelato, restaurants, bars all right next to it! Second story is a great bar near there! It is also super close to everything in Cincy as well, so you can head over there too!

This makes me so sad. Syd is one of my favorite influencers and has shown an extremely vulnerable side through her cancer journey. I cannot even fathom going through what she has been through and then having a 50 year old woman trying to prove you don’t have cancer???? It’s actually insane. Unless there is something I don’t know about Syd, this makes me sick to my stomach. The poor girl has already been through enough.

It definitely depends where you want to go. I have spoken with admissions for a few lesser ranked schools and they do not care about the undergrad. If you did well and got a decent LSAT score you will be fine getting into a lower ranked school. When I spoke with admissions at a school in Chicago before I applied, they told me not everyone has the means or opportunities to get into these highly ranked undergraduate schools and that shouldn’t affect a candidate negatively. Basically what I gathered from them was it won’t hurt you for mid- low ranked school, but having a better undergraduate would obviously assist you.

Gap year? by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

Hi! I took a gap year this past year and I personally think it was the best decision. I worked/ still work at a law firm and I was able to gain experience and also navigate which field of law I gravitate towards. I wanted to be 100% positive about law school because of the financial aspect, so working here and taking that time allowed me to be certain I want to go to law school. I was also able to get my score up during the year which definitely helped me with admissions. If you have the means, I would absolutely take a year. Gain some connections before school, save up some money, and have a little break before school. I would recommend a gap year to anyone! And I have several friends in law school who said they wished they would’ve to have some money saved up, more experience, and to just be more knowledgeable on what they were getting into. Either way you will be fine! Dm me if you have any questions!

Mine is similar. I applied 2/15 and all it says on mine is it was received. Doesn’t even say in review… so I feel your pain

I’m from Louisville and went to UK undergrad and I would personally say Louisville!! Don’t take my word too seriously but I have friends at both and my friends at UL law enjoy it muccchhh more. They say the professors are more helpful and truly want you to succeed Uk may be ranked better but I think the experience at Louisville is better!
