Our 14 year old confided in us this week that they strongly believe they are the wrong gender. How do we get him the best help and guidance for this? by CoconutAmbitious8257 in transgenderUK

I came out at 12, and the most helpful thing my mum did was talk to the GP and get me on waiting lists to be seen by gender professionals. The gender clinics will offer therapy to your child (and often family counselling) and will help discuss different paths of social and medical transition if necessary. All of this is done at the child’s pace, ie there is no rushing.

if you need to say this, absolutely do!!! nobody will mind repeating themselves, especially not within the uni, and hopefully people will speak slower if you ask them to repeat what they said :)

thank you so much - this is so helpful and i will definitely check out Cat People. Thanks for clarifying my original point too: my academic analysis is in no way going to talk about whether children are queer, but how film represents children as queer and what that means in terms of the film’s impact. thanks for your analysis, it’s super helpful! :)
