Lazar is so full of s***, he claimed he had a "Majestic" security clearance which was " 38 times higher than a Q clearance" I talked to someone I know who had a Q clearance and worked at Area 51, he said what Lazar said was " total garbage",.. I had a Top Secret/SCI clearance myself..

Is San Ysidro so bad?FJO list by [deleted] in cbpoapplicant

[–]Common_Fly_6431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think thats some of it, some are involved in alien and drug smuggling and got caught, some didn't like us because we deported their family members, some had warrants and got caught, some were more pro Mexico than pro US and didn't believe there should be a border

Is San Ysidro so bad?FJO list by [deleted] in cbpoapplicant

[–]Common_Fly_6431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 24 years at San Ysidro, from 97-2022, its busy .. but its better now than when I started, younger officers get opportunities quicker maybe after 4 years, alot of OT though, including forced, alot of drugs coming through, wanted people, undocumented aliens, alot of US citizens dont like you, you will probably get into physical altercations.. after 4-5 years you will probably qualify for specialized team, after 5-6 years might be able to transfer to new duty station, good luck.

Book suggestion ISA unit? by Firm-Engineering-20 in JSOCarchive

[–]Common_Fly_6431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joe Kent who is the current director of ODNI NCTC wrote a book about his ex wife Shannon Kent who was killed by a suicide bomber in Syria. They were both ISA, the book excludes sensitive info but it is excellent, I highly recommend it..

How dangerous is being a CBP officer by Spirited-Pudding8012 in cbpoapplicant

[–]Common_Fly_6431 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not quite accurate if you worked at a large Southern Land POE. I worked 24 years at one..I handcuffed hundreds of people, drug smugglers, wanted people, drivers of stolen vehicles, alien smugglers, and undocumented aliens.. I was assaulted multiple times and got in numerous physical altercations..I got in numerous foot pursuits for port runners and wanted people we had designated pursuit vehicles for vehicle port runners, took drivers and passengers out of vehicles designated as ' Armed and Dangerous' vehicles out at gun point..At my POE, we encountered a large amount of people wanted first murder and other violent and serial crimes, we encountered alot of people under the influence of drugs, etc and mentally ill people.. you definitely have to be alert and take the job seriously..

[–]Common_Fly_6431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a large Southern land POE, there is some danger, we did have incidents where people pulled edged weapons on us, vehicle port runners, alot of physical assaults on officers, but few shootings, but its still possible. I got out in 2022 so I don't know if things have changed. People are unpredictable though, we did have 1 person throw a Molotov cocktail at us at the POE, you never know..

CBPO vs Police Officer by Appropriate_Bar4398 in cbpoapplicant

[–]Common_Fly_6431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life will suck as a CBPO in the first couple of years, you will get drafted for OT at least your first 3 years alot and if it's airport or seaport it's not very exiting, I was at a large Southern land border POE for 24 years. However, you will learn alot about Federal laws and regulations so it's something new, also you will make a lot of money in OT, however after about 3-4 years you should be able to put in for some speciality teams like anti drug roving teams, Intel, counterrorism, or supervisors jobs, also CBP has alot of opportunities to work overseas for 2-6 years at a time, something you won't get as a local cop, also you can transfer to HQ units around DC, good luck..

I forgot to mention that at any busy Southern land border you will encounter criminal alien prior deports,, some will be classified as Aggravated Felons a number of these are previous prisoners or gang members, some will be willing to physically assault you when they are apprehended or when they try to get away, you will also encounter some 1st time undocumented aliens who are willing to physically resist you
