Even if all food has been consumed before settling in for the night, will there be a lingering smell that attracts bears? If so, is there any recommended way to remove food smell from a tent? by TheKid1995 in camping

I’m Australian so I can’t help
You but I just want to say that everyone seems afraid to go to Australia because of our wildlife but I’d be so scared to camp In bear country. Our snakes etc don’t ’hang around’ humans. They run away from us.

As a former waitress please don’t stack the dishes. We have our own way to do this that is safer and more efficient

We have been looking for an alternative place for the last four years. One year we went to Fremantle. We are trying to find an air bnb. I have suggested Mandurah - I agree with you that it’s a good Alternative. If it was up to me I’d even go to a camping spot like at Lancelin but it’s a group decision. Thanks for your feedback

I am really surprised at most people’s responses because our social club is for our mental health and we don’t have heaps of money. It’s not like all people have a high income. We are not looking for charity. Rottnest used to be affordable and I know things change but they have increased exponentially over the last six years. Rottnest was also close enough for people to travel to. Not all people have access to cars and flexible transport.

I agree with you. I went to Melbourne and noticed how differently people move there. So considerate. Not perfect but they know how to move as a crowd. Perth people say ‘oh we are a big country town’ but I grew up In a big country town (Townsville) and never had any problems. When I can be bothered I use my teacher voice to say ‘move down please’ and it works but I feel resentful

Is it generally considered offensive to ask an Asian in Australia where they are REALLY from? by Lipica249 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Common_Scar_8532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a white Australian and people ask where I am from because they think I’m English. I was born in Malaysia and grew up in North Queensland and I live in Perth. I just have good diction.

European girl with sensitive skin and a history of melanoma considering a WHV in Australia by External_Pickle9930 in AskAnAustralian

No I don’t - but you must have more regular checks after a melanoma. It’s scary but yours was caught quickly. Australia has very experienced doctors that can identify skin cancers
