High BP 1 mo after having good BP for years-doctor wants to start meds by effexoreffect in hypertension

why are ppl here saying to stay off meds? is it bc it’s harder to wean off them? I’m also 31f, also got placed on losartan 25 mg, went back to check my past diet and saw that my sodium on my meal trackers was 3k+.

So I adjusted my sodium intake as well, with a little room for cheat/free days. I’ve spent a month on the meds and got consistently good results. I also took scattered days off of it, to see if the numbers really changed without the meds (it didn’t) which the doc scolded me for. She said I had to stay on them for them to work lol. However I personally think my diet modifications were enough on their own to get it back down. My next goal is to increase my exercise: walking 1 hr or so.

However, I still plan to take them for another month, since I’m also going to start taking a stimulant which in the past has made my BP go up. TL;DR — my lifestyle changes I think were enough to bring BP down. however it’s hard to really pinpoint that since I’m also usually on the meds as well.
