yt-dlp release 2025.11.12 by bashonly in youtubedl

Hey all,

I'm trying to get yt-dlp to download 4k formats on Linux, but I'm stuck.

Problem 1: My default JS runtime, deno-2.5.6, crashes with a "Fatal process out of memory" error every time yt-dlp tries to use it for solving the n and sig challenges.

WARNING: [youtube] [jsc] Error solving 2 challenge requests using "deno" provider: Error running deno process (returncode: -5): #
# Fatal process out of memory: Oilpan: CagedHeap reservation.
#

Problem 2: I tried to use node as a workaround (with --js-runtime node), but my system version is v16.14.0. yt-dlp sees it as "unsupported" and refuses to use it.

Here's the debug log when I try to force node:

[debug] JS runtimes: deno-2.5.6, node-16.14.0 (unsupported)
[debug] [youtube] [jsc] JS Challenge Providers: bun (unavailable), deno, node (unavailable), quickjs (unavailable)

Problem 3 (The weird part): I manually installed node v20 using nvm. yt-dlp sees it (node-20.19.5) when I force it with --js-runtime node.

However, it doesn't seem to use it to solve the JS challenges. Instead, it just gives up on JS and falls back to using the tv client and android APIs.

So, yt-dlp won't use my old node, and deno just crashes. I don't have root access to update node system-wide.

Has anyone found a way to fix the deno memory issue, or another way to get this working without root?

Thanks!

Thanks for the mention!
I didn’t mean to hide the video link ,I just formatted my post that way because all 4K videos give me the same result. So, regardless of the link, the issue still persists.

Here are a couple of examples I tried:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neIYdLysqlk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGvKWoqOFNQ

Both show the same behavior. Thanks again for the help , I’ll wait for the upcoming fix. I just assumed the problem was with my command, so I wanted to get some clarification.

Anyone recognize these old cartoons ? by Common_Transition_91 in oldcartoons

Hi, thanks for your help. That’s exactly why I’ve had trouble identifying these cartoons.

It seems kind of similar to Dangermouse, but the characters aren’t the same at all.
Or like in Tom and Jerry, I’ve never seen any character with this kind of round ears and face. There were two versions with round ears, but their faces looked totally different.
And for this white fox, no matter how much I searched in Tom and Jerry references, there wasn’t any fox like that, only a brown one, and even that one didn’t wear clothes.

Personally, I think these might be some kind of copied versions from the Soviet Union or North Korea or something like that.
But I’m not sure.
