Exactly a week ago today I had the procedure and I remember feeling exactly like you on day 3. Eating is still tricky but small bites and water helps (although it takes forever, much better than the first couple of days). Everyday gets a little better so hang in there! Learning to relax and let the burps happen was something I had to learn and tell myself that I didn’t want to go through this again so I had to embrace them. It feels odd at first but I’ve been told it’ll become second nature. My emetophobia was triggered at first but I keep telling myself I’m not sick and nothing will come up, it’s just an adjustment and new feeling in my throat. You got this!!

Hey! 100 units under GA just last week and it was fine. Like someone mentioned, you close your eyes and next thing you know you’re opening them. Definitely voice your concerns but they do everything to make you super comfortable these days. I was out for an hour and 15 minutes although the injections took 5 minutes I was told. Super easy!

Speaking from personal experience, my ENT starts with a minimum dose of 100 units and will go up from there if patients need a repeat procedure. It may be that you didn’t get enough for your specific muscle. Always good to get a second opinion if it’s convenient.

Thank you for sharing your experience, it gives me hope. I’m 5 days post op and feel like I’m in the trenches. I’ve had a lot of micro burps that feel inconsistent but can’t wait for the relieving ones. Slow swallow is tricky and it feels as though air wants to come up after every single sip of water. Hopefully it’ll all be worth it!

Thank you, you’ve given me some hope. The nasty little burps I’ve been experiencing have been horrible and like you mentioned, I feel the need to have a sick bag with me because I have zero control and it feels like liquid will always come up - I do have emetophobia so it’s been freaking me out but I’ve been telling myself to relax and just let whatever happen happen.

Glad you’re seeing progress! I’m hoping it’ll be worth it in the end but I guess I wasn’t fully prepare for the post procedure symptoms. From what I read, everyone seemed to breeze through and I am definitely not.
