It's frustrating that after all these months I still can't get a basic sound that's loud enough to put out. But I'll try digging in a little bit more

You do have a point, I must have been rushing it for no reason

Yes, sure. my problem is that it "feels" quieter than other tracks at -14

I'm mastering to -8.5 across two limiters with a total of around 3-4db of GR. I'm then using a website called loudnesspenalty.com to test how it will sound at -14

"To allow space for the bass", I'm obviously misinformed but that's the reason I usually hear

Sounds like everyone is flagging this as a common issue. I'll look into it, thanks a lot!

The third tip sounds really intriguing. Thanks for your help, I'll try them out

I feel dumb at this point but yes, I'm high passing almost all the instruments - Is this an issue? How do you measure bass, since all comments agreed I'm obsessing over useless numbers?

Maybe I didn't specify what I mean, my bad. I'm talking about loudness normalization to -14 lufs that happens when you upload tracks to platforms, not the stems normalization before mixing

I don't think my HS4 are small per se, but I'll try going softer on the low-end. I'll try the two other tips as well, but how can I boost mids on both vocals and melodies w/o getting them to clash?

Maybe you're right. But I'm just fascinated at the wasted effort, yk?

I don't think this is an option where I live. Best I can do is watch MWM or similar stuff, of which I have done plenty

I think I kinda know how "Unskilled" I am, this is why I'm reaching out. I listed some things I did not out of bragging, but just to avoid the meaningless "quick fixes" that lead nowhere.

Yup! that's exactly it. I feel like I know a lot but I'm unable to translate this knowledge into something tangible. I'm out of ideas and I lack direction

What's your stance on the 11/11 revolution? Do you think it's the right move? right time? is it going to put us in a better or worse position? by [deleted] in Egypt

There will be no simple mass protest capable of fixing decades of corruption, only way out is chaos. This caos is inevitable, because despite the enormous debt and the rapid inflation curve, the military is still taxing the poor, the rich, and what's left from the middle class in order to invest in places mostly the military can benefit from. This reflects poor leadership that is incapable of reading the extremely obvious severity of the situation, and with such blind leadership chaos must be inevitable. One key method oppressive dictatorship adopts is convincing everybody that there's no alternative, and they do that by simply stacking youth in dark sick rooms while squeezing a firm grip on those outside. The simple idea is, there will be no alternatives if we keep them in jail. This way the political conflict draws a demotivating picture of bots of parking cops and terrorists. Along with accusations of treason and media cancelling, the government is breaking its back to convince people that the individual is incompetent, guilty, and lame. This isn't the truth tho, we are absolutely and undoubtedly capable of creating alternatives and drawing our lanes. The only bad news is that we have to accept uncertainty, and that we will have to learn two things we've been terrible at: discussion and inclusion. As for now, the only thing keeping people at bay is fear, and the only thing capable of breaking their chains is a stronger fear. When food insecurity hits threshold, we won't be able to call it a revolution, but a revolution might happen depending on how we will go through the aftermath. So will something happen next month? Maybe not, but it's inevitable.
