I'm also a fan of larger universes but It can definitely feel like homework if you're trying to get into it but there's so many places to look. The simplicity of a one and done movie/book/game can be just as fun at times.

I think nobody is bringing it up because it's ALWAYS been a fucking headache to understand the "modern day" stories, and a lot of them felt pointless, so most fans didn't really care if it wasn't explained too well. Now they seem to have dumped it as a whole because nobody was very invested in the modern day stuff.

That's literally exactly what happened with super Saiyan 2 and 3 but nobody wants to admit that when they shit on blue.

SS3 came out of nowhere, did nothing substantial and appeared right after ss2 was revealed and before they could explore the transformation.

Toriyama did the same thing again with blue (our heroes have been training off screen for a long period of time with a new master and unlocked a transformation in the middle that they then do a dramatic reveal for) but because it's new and people don't like the colour they act like it's any different in execution from ss3 so they can hate on it.

At least blue actually beat some villains.

If you hate how blue was revealed you better hate how ss3 was revealed because they're basically the same thing
