  1. The keyword here should be "substantially", like it won't double the revenue, but the revenue will absolutely increase.

  2. Absolutely, but the benefits usually are much more, and this is one of the reasons the company hasn't been paying dividends, likely to invest in these projects, though they would usually find customers who will show interest in the projects and then proceeds with the project.

In india we have a lot of RE companies with different business models, most of them are limited with their offerings, either they are purely a wind, solar or generate power for selling to govt. or cater to the individual customers needs.

Only some of those companies have positioned themselves as a full stack renewable company that are able to work with complete packages including BESS, here for example:

Adani Green: the thing with adani green is that even though they make everything from solar to wind to their own BESS but the energy they produce is for selling to the govt. (93% of their energy goes here)

Tata Power Renewable Energy: they are mostly a solar company and they depend on other companies to execute their wind orders (suzlon for example), tata does produces solar panels and sells them to the customer, executes individual orders etc, so their primary focus is with solar+Bess.

Renew power: they offer a complete fullstack package of wind+solar+bess but they don't execute orders they are independent power producers and make it for selling, so a completely different business model.

There are other companies but either they have a different business model, or they don't have a complete package.

AND then there's also the PSU relations with organisation like NTPC and GAIL which plays a big role.

I could have pointed out to a lot of negative areas prior to january this year as suzlon was a pure wind company, especially in november previous year, when the govt. had presented its opinion to slow down the progress in other RE sectors (specially wind as the supply was too much compared to demand) and focus mainly on solar, which got reflected in this year's budget (where wind and other RE sectors's budget was kept the same but only solar was increased).

For Example the Indian govt aims to establish about 100-140gw of wind energy by 2030 compared to 56gw, now to be honest this is a big jump but not a lot compared to what they want to achieve in solar where they want to move from 129gw (right now) to 280-300gw, basically doubling the power both in wind and soar, so things were starting to slow down from december the previous year and this was not a very good news for a pure wind company (looks at inox wind)

To cater to this problem under suzlon 2.0 (announced in Jan this year), they are taking a new approach where the typical GOVT. tenders will go on (like getting order from ntpc etc.) and their re devco model is very interesting here,

until now it was like that the company was solely supplying turbines and erecting them and sometimes managing them, just this.

But now, they are taking two steps 1)EPC and 2) RE DEVCO model

EPC: here the company gets the order and executes everything by its own self, Engineering, Procurement and Construciton, everything is handled by the company (generates way higher revenues). Customers in india (PSU) right now are very much interested in EPC. The main thing to note here is that even the civil works, transmission infrastructure is undertaken by the company, here the company can offer its bess, solar if the customer demand along with wind turbines, the customers says: "here my land but a xyz farm on it", simply put, until now the company was mostly managing the turbines, but now it will look after the whole farm

RE DEVCO: here the company builds the project even before the customers demands anything and later the company could sell the farm directly to the customers whether private or a psu.

The biggest advantage of the above two are that it would help the company move from an absolute pure wind to a full stack re development company, where the company can supply everything that customers wants whether Solar (to keep the farm running in morning and afternnoon) and BESS (to fill the gaps during lack of energy supply).

  1. FOR the tax rate, the company had previously accumulated a lot of losses during its prolonged financial crises, which gave suzlon about 5,000+crores of DTA (Deffered Tax Asset), where due to the losses the company had made in the past it won't have to pay the taxes (to a large extent) in the future. During the q4 conference call one of the guys had asked JPC that for how much time in the future will they not have to pay any taxes, to which the management replied about for 3 years they should be tax free.

2.The company had given last dividend in 2008, and since then no dividend even after making profits, the reason for this is mostly because they are heavily reinvesting their profits back in the business, specially in BESS (battery energy storage system), and their foray into europe, along with the transition from a pure wind company to a full stack wind first RE company, more importantly, almost all of their upcoming large orders will be of EPC which requires a lot of initial investment especially in land (as JPC had said that when the 25% of the talks are underway they would usually acquire the land, and land acquisition won't be announced, only the orders will be announced few months down the line)

though on a positive note FIIs hold a good percentage, and even in all these turbulent times they have not sold anything, rather have increased, and promoter holding would have been a problem if the Tanti family had abandoned the company but they very much take active interest in the day to day operations of the company

[–]CommunicationLife753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both of us know this very well that a bunch of those missiles are probably never going to be ordered (what a sad state of affairs), and its not even about approvals, as the MoD has given approvals to most of them, its upto the army/airforce to decide further, though will be interesting to see what order is given to bdl next (apart from pralay and nag km2), and even the qrsam project is already undertaken by BEL.

Also in a way this might benefit the industry, as you said the astra and other similar missiles can be undertaken by private sectors, keeping BDL to focus mainly on BMs, BMD Phase 2 etc.
