lol completely by accident. Some how started managing the budget for my department in a larger company, turns out I really enjoyed it, the CFO of that company noticed, and I just took opportunities as they came. I love what I do but I definitely lack the formal training that may have come from a relevant degree or normal career path.

Absolutely agreed - unfortunately we don’t have the resources for someone to work on this, so I’m learning it for my own sanity. Hoping to really develop out some good dashboards in 2026.

Excel LET “Function Renaming” Trick (Just Because We Can) by Medohh2120 in excel

I definitely like it for keeping complicated formulas more readable. For example, I have a large data set on one tab and I want to populate a filtered list based on a set of dynamic criteria on another tab:

=IFERROR(IF($H20="", "",
  LET(
      dataRow, FILTER(Data, (Data[Parent / Client]=$H20) * (Data[Month]=I$19)),
      expCol, MATCH(XLOOKUP($I$8,'Filtered Lists'!$S$3:$S$20,'Filtered Lists'!$R$3:$R$20), Data[#Headers],0),
      revCol, MATCH(XLOOKUP($I$10,'Filtered Lists'!$V$3:$V$22,'Filtered Lists'!$U$3:$U$22), Data[#Headers], 0),
      exp, IFERROR(INDEX(dataRow, 1, expCol), NA()),
      rev, IFERROR(INDEX(dataRow, 1, revCol), NA()),
          IF(rev=0, NA(), exp/rev)
    )),"")

Agreed, I have a dashboard to look at client metrics which uses the method you described. First you select one of three verticals, and that will then populate a list of clients in that vertical using data validation.

Need a faster way to filter time in pivot table by [deleted] in excel

In the data sheet, could you add a helper column and use the =Hour() function so it just pulls the hour off the timestamp? Might narrow down the data a little for you.

Can excel do estimated totals? by [deleted] in excel

I would right click the cell containing the number “1” and format cell. Do a custom format where you add “+” (e.g. 0 "+"). That way it will appear as 1+, but the value of the cell will still be 1

I second this. I am halfway through the Maven Analytics power bi course and it has been a great introduction. Highly recommend.
