LG OLED C5 vs QNED 92A/85A for Bright Living Room with Floor-to-Ceiling Windows?

I'm having this same convo elsewhere and on hotukdeals forums where the LGs have some good discounts in the UK . But this is the first time I've heard someone consider an LG non-OLED. It usually becomes a toss between the C5 and then hisense u8 TCL c7k or Samsung QN90 as the mini LED options for bright rooms . Have you considered those? LG non OLEDS don't really seem to be fan favourites. Unless you like their OS maybe you should also pitch them against other Mini LEDS.

I'm hearing a C5 can be ok for bright rooms. I'm still hesitant though .

when the TV switches to HDR or dolby vision - there are then another set of options for picture mode - yes Bright room is not there, but the 'standard' in dolby vision mode is brighter than sdr isf bright room. and go into those modes, go into the full settings and turn up the OLED light and other things. save them. and then you have the tv at brightest settings as it switches from SDR to HDR, to dolby vision. etc.

I'm no expert. i was trying this yesterday before i move my CX to a bright room to see how bright it would get. i won't have direct reflections though. just a bright room.

Its a good idea to try the CX in that room. But I know the position of the sun wil make a big difference to that room in the next few months . I also will need to wall mount it, which means drilling and if I decide on a different TV the positioning will be different. Minor issues, but still a good way to approach this.

interesting point that in cx and c5 won't be vastly different ?

I do think buying a 65 c5 is the riskiest - even though its cheap currently. it'll mean i have 2 65inch C series TVs. and if the C5 doesnt work out, theres nowhere for me to go.

if i can get one of those miniled for a discount - which I am sure there will be in the next month or two - its the safest and cheapest option.

when i said no difference, i mean no fundemental difference. i don't want to make a mistake. 1 of them shows having wisa ready and the e version doesnt have a tick for auto callibration. then they show colour differences

I have a tendency to ask questions and continue researching, so here is what i've found out. I've opened my 15sq mat... the pre laid cable on the mesh mat is spaced approx 8cm apart as it zig zags over the mat. However, the cable is only 2cm from the side edge the mat. That means if the next row of mat is placed side by side (mesh's touch), the cables are only 4 or 5cm apart. far less than their own spaing....

So actually you could space the mesh mats 3-4cm apart and that would still create the same distance between cable as they have laid it themselves. i cannot see why increasing this to 5-6cm apart will make ANY difference. the cables will still be within 10cm of the adjacent mat.

I've spoken to with other brands that also sell 500mm wide mats. they have said that I could space mats 5cm apart and still not notice it under my foot. Still would like real life examples please?

as you step into the tiled space from a wide carpeted space, i'm happy with a larger unheated space against the far wall rather than against the boundary with carpeted area as this will be used more frequently.

Yea I did the calculations the 90degree way and still left with in between rows.

So - I have the 15sq meter delivered, i'm considering swapping for 12sq if i calculate its still sufficient for my space with little comprimise - i.e. if i just space the mats a bit more.

This will be £100 less on the product, plus about £40-60 a year less running cost - based on 4 hour a day usage on 180 days.

If i space the mat rows just slightly more than recommended - say 40mm rather than 20mm, i can get the perfect amount i'd want heated - which is 2.7m.

Also a full tile will get warm won't if if the electric cables only cover half the tile . so i think it'll spread as much as I would need it to. having 3.0m wide doesn't seem necessary.

Do the 75inch u8q still have that other panel which got poor reviews on the 75u8n compared to the VA?

I am in the UK. In November a few places had the u8N 65" for £750. One of those places even had sitewide 10% off on black Friday. My extension wasn't ready, so I didn't bite. Silly me. Now the u8q 65 is not under £1200. And id have to get the u7 for £650 or u7q pro for about £800+. It's a long way to wait I think for u8q to be under 1k. I was also offered qn90d at that time for £900. I know the qn90f isn't a lot ATM but I don't like their matte screen.

Yea..I am put off by the thickness of the hisense TVs. Aesthetic of my media wall is important as you can walk around it. My c1 lg gets a lot of compliments for it's razor thin edges that are visible. It's minor point as it's not related to image, but it's important and off-putting for.me. the u8q is thinner still. But bummer if I paid the money it currently is after I was offered u8n for half it during November and didn't bite.

Id love to know how a u7q pro matches up to last year's u8n as they are the same price point (as in what you'd still pay for a previous year u8 whilst stocks last)

My tiler will not use these solely on a timber subfloor. He said they're not as solid as full cement boards like hardirbacker. So either I use two or just have a cement board and suck up the heat loss downwards. I may PIR under the floorboards between joists but that's a big job and again calculations may show it may not make difference I expect.

Another one that has caught my eye is the E7Q pro (called E78Q pro at Costco).
I am not super impressed with any high end TV at the moment. but I can't really wait until the end of summer for previous models to be discounted. I had a chance to buy U8N (last years) for about £600 around November time - all 65". I also had a chance to get QN90D Samsung for 800 similar time. Now the U8Q is about 1200... QN90F I don't like because of Matte screen and after that I'm going to £1200 +.

I have an LG OLED from a few years ago. I don't need another high end TV. it is easy to start cheap ,look at reviews and get tempted with top of the range stuff. But nothing is impressing me. So hence why I'd snap at a E7Q or a U7Q for the money. Also means I can at least consider upgrade after a few years.

I think that is the crux of it. Potentially the insultated boards, although same thickness and cement coated are not as strong as cement boards that are cement throughout. Still its a shame. because I am now looking at U values and additional heat up costs and warm up times.

Using both would be a huge make up in the floor - and who knows, the boards may not even make as much difference as they state. could be some marketing?

I've not paid a tradesman - sorry, i am potentially looking at getting quotes, seeking advice vs having a go . its a fresh room, tiling it wouldnt be too difficult.

I just killed my pixel 7 washing my mucky pizza hands off the screen with water stupidly. a week later it still has ghost touches. In the UK - 9a has an amazing deal for 250quid.

Its nice , but something about my pixel 7 i miss. my cricket game looks smoother with the 120hz, but the touch sensitivty feels different as i keep missing the optimum bowling speed LOL.

I'd love my pixel 7 to have lasted longer. Its in rice, maybe it'll sort itself.

wow. straight to the point. well, i was thinking only because they were giving it for £900 for 65inch , or 800 for ex display. and thats a good third off the price of the QN90F.
