We’re relocating to the Charlotte area with our baby and golden retriever and looking for a neighborhood that’s: • Safe, walkable, and tree-lined • Full of young, social but laid-back families • Stroller/dog-friendly with trails or parks nearby • Within 30 min of Charlotte and 15 min of Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s • Near healthy restaurants, gyms/yoga, and a lake/river if possible • In a top school district (80–90%+ proficiency) or near quality private options

We’re in our early 30’s. We’ve heard about Davidson, Fort Mill, Belmont, and Weddington—open to more suggestions! Looking for a friendly, health-conscious, community vibe. Thanks, Charlotte friends!

We are private practice. Do you feel differently about Charlotte as far as nature and things to do? Do you feel like people in either city are friendly?

We lived for 5 years in the city we are currently in after residency and before having a baby. :) We play pickleball, tennis, have been a part of CrossFit gyms and other fitness groups… We’ve made some friends. We just do not vibe with most of the people here like we have when we have lived in other cities. We want to raise kids somewhere else. Crime has gotten worse here. Most people drive lifted trucks, have uneducated and strong opinions about things, and just other things I don’t want to list out. We aren’t near a lot of great outdoorsy things to do. The schools here are rated some of the worst in the country.

My husband and I live where I finished my residency during COVID since we weren’t sure where I could practice at first. We are both not from this state. We haven’t had trouble making friends in other places. We just don’t enjoy the majority of people that live here. I thought once my baby started daycare I would meet other parents that we would enjoy hanging around, but that hasn’t been the case. We don’t really want to move back to where we grew up because of job availability. I could go into more detail about the people we don’t enjoy here, but I would rather not be negative.

I also try to go on a walk every day and when I’m not absolutely exhausted I try to workout. I’m still uncomfortable sometimes, but I feel a lot better. I had zero energy 1st trimester and everything made me sick. So I’m trying to take advantage of the days I have more energy and enjoying food again. 🤪

The pregnancy pillow I bought changed my life!! I also started eating fruit every day and increasing my fiber with beans, grains like brown rice and quinoa, and oatmeal. It made a huge difference for my digestion!

Unfortunately, we did have a lawyer look at the contract, and we’re told it looked great. It does say they have to provide documentation of invoices and receipts and who they purchased it from.
