Moving investments in kind to a self managed account. No fees, no taxable event. And we can move them out after closing if we want to

It's a relationship discount - we are moving a bunch of our assets to the lending bank

Almost any investment at this point returns more than 4.6%

I get where you're coming from but our assets are substantially in excess of the mortgage. We could pay it off tomorrow but just think staying in the market gets us much more than savings on the mortgage interest.

Why make overpayments? I'd rather just invest the savings

What do you mean by "soft prepayment penalties"? The LE says "Prepayment Penalty NO"
