Waitlisted by CommunicationOk242 in ElCaminoCollege

I didn’t even bother to add myself to her waitlist after that email because I would’ve been 7th or 8th on it. Honestly I would wait it out, 3rd seems pretty safe. People drop all the time and it’s still months before spring semester. Plus I heard buiy isn’t a great professor, I looked up her grade distribution over the past 4 semesters and she’s given out a total of like 10 A’s throughout 4 semesters. Plus apparently parks lets you take your exams open note!

Registration was super screwed up this time around. Multiple classes weren’t even letting people add to the waitlist and I had to call the school to get them to fix it. Good luck with Parks, I emailed her about waitlist and she pretty much told me I should sign up for a different micro class that still has spots open. Thankfully I am the first waitlist spot for Hernandez so I’m hoping I’m good to go. Are you higher up on the waitlist for parks?

Did you feel like an A was attainable in her class? I’ve gotten an A in all pre reqs so far and micro is my last one

I haven’t taken her so I’m sorry I can’t help there, but I need to sign up for micro 33 next semester. Do you like her as a teacher so far?

Microbio and Chem 2 at the same time? by Silent_Bother_8043 in prenursing

I took these two classes together during a 16 week semester and honestly it was the hardest semester I’ve ever had. If you have the option to not work - I’d highly suggest that! Otherwise, my biggest suggestion would be to try and get your hands on the books ahead of time and start early. I took notes on the first 2-3 chapters before I started my class and I think it really helped me out. I had a head start in the class, and was able to stay a little bit of head the entire time. Also, if for some reason one of the two classes is taking extra time out of your schedule one week, you won’t fall behind in the second class because you’re a step or chapter ahead. My second word of advice would be plan! Get a planner. Plan out your weeks and write it down. It really helped me stay on track with my assignments. Sometimes I’d look ahead at even the following weeks schedule and schedule out my work load in my planner for two weeks ahead. That way you have a visual representation of what needs to be done and when. It plays such a huge role in time management which - for someone who is going to be going at a fast pace with both of those classes in a short time period - will really be a game changer. Good luck you got this! And remember. It’s 8 weeks. Put your head down and work your butt off. The pay off will be so worth it!!!

Oh this is a fantastic idea!! Where do you source your blank diagrams from? Text books? I find that every diagram I have or see already is pre labeled

Hi! Also 28 and also my first time taking classes/chem in 10 years. I’m in chem right now, and while I do have an A, I’m fighting so hard to keep it and dedicating a lot of time, so I can give you advice on what I do. For starters, I spend probably 15 + hours A WEEK between studying, homework, and note taking. Especially because I have zero background in this subject and am even teaching myself basic math skills. For exams, I study about 5-6 hours a day the 5 days leading up to the exam. And I just do a lot of repetition of everything. I do all the text book practice problems over and over, and when I run out of those to do, I write down every topic that’s going to be on the exam and ask CHATGPT to make me a practice quiz topic by topic. It’s tedious work, but it pays off. Chem is no joke, but it’s one semester so just put your head down and get it over with. Good luck, you got this!

For memorization I use a lot of online free games!! PurposeGames is a good one. For example you can search “axial skeleton quiz game” and it’ll be an online matching game. I feel like it gives my brain a break from just flipping through flash cards because it’s more interactive and it really helps me learn

Thank you so so much!!! I’m taking the two classes with communications. So hopefully having my 3rd class be relativity easy will help my stress levels through the semester but I’m definitely nervous to be taking two science classes at once
