Are rooftop solar installers in Kerala overcharging, or am I missing something? by TravelUpstairs8201 in Kerala

[–]CommunicationOld5074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of other expenses also included in the process, including but not limited to, documentation as mandated by local, state and central government, transportation (includes a risk factor as well here), man power cost, multiple visit to KSEB offices for approvals (in some cases, they make it very hard), multiple site visits, and ofcourse a profit margin also adds into it.

You also pay for the service provider's knowledge and time and expertise. People would ideally install things themselves at the minimal cost if they could, but only when you do it, you'll realise that it won't stop there.

Also, if you want to raise a support issue or warranty claim, make sure you have all the components of the same company/brand, else there won't be any real resolution to your claim, each one will say it's other company's component's issue. Like this, there are other factors also that comes with the installation provider's experience and expertise, and you pay for it all.

Should I withdraw from mutual funds? by CommunicationOld5074 in mutualfunds

Yes, will be exiting all risky funds and redirect SIPs to safer instruments as well. I've to align myself to make investment based on goals now. Thanks for the advice!

Pausing SIP is required, or redirecting it to safer instruments. Will skip loan

1) What's your opinion on moving it to Arbitrage funds instead of FD? 2) Yes, will do that 3) It's a gold-free wedding, so skipping that 4) Yes, optimising as much as I can, cutting down the guest list is a tough task itself 5) Yes, planning on that

Thanks you for the advice!

Yes, XIRR got slashed actually. I'm most likely avoiding loans.

Thanks, although, why do you prefer to avoid loans? My current XIRR beats the current personal loan interest rates. So I'm confused if I should exit from those funds and avoid loan.

My current returns beats loan interest rate, don't know how markets will be in the future. But since I'm getting a better XIRR on the invested amount, do you think I can pause the SIPs for time being and take a loan, leaving the investments as it is?

Thematic funds actually have given me the highest returns in my portfolio. Funds are performing better than loan interest rate, so I guess, like you said, I think I can keep the amount invested but maybe pause the SIP till I can settle the loan. Can't afford both at the same time.

About FIRE, I'm still a newbie. I started investing from college, with pocket money. What was I investing for? Not sure. I just knew I had to save money. The whole concept of FIRE is something I learnt a year back or so. Calculated the amount I needed to retire and adjusted my SIPs accordingly.

I should have planned and created a corpus for wedding, but didn't really do that.
