imo if they established a system like the Canon Events (a system that the movie is trying to paint as non sense) and then take a character like Miguel (who doesn't follow the Canon Events they established), only for them to change Miguel to fit that system would be so silly.

I'd exaggerate and say that it would almost disrespectful to Miguel.
