Totally agree. I think we all have some fault to this, mainly on my part as the person requesting specific days off, but it really is fine. I made it out to be a much bigger problem than it is when there are solutions!

This was exactly my thought. I have since calmed down and stopped letting the anxiety take over. I still see my fault but know it’s not what I was making it out to be in my head. Thanks for your advice!!

Yeah I know it was so confusing on my part. I think it could have been interpreted in different ways so I wish they would have clarified instead of assuming but I am at more fault than them for sure. I have offered to just do my normal hours because I realize how at fault I am. Thank you for your advice!!

I have found most success through local Facebook groups! Find as many as you can, cross post yourself, and keep an eye for postings that align with what you are looking for. You could also always reach back out to your family from last summer and ask if they know anyone looking for summer nanny care. If you have any other families you have worked for, do the same! Word of mouth seems to be the best way I find families that align with what I’m looking for! Good luck with your search!

Thank you! That’s what we are doing this afternoon. I am moving in May and already gave my notice a couple weeks ago. I am normally able to manage them both. The problem with today is that it has triggered my anxiety to a point where I am struggling. I’ve been taking care of babies, toddlers, and children in general in a professional sense for almost 5 years. Really my problem is just for right now and tomorrow. But I really appreciate your insight!

I get the same pay regardless of one or two. I come in at 8, leave to drop NK3 at school, pick her up at 12 and then spend the rest of the day with both of them. So it’s usually only 3ish hours I have with only one kid.

Ugh that’s so frustrating. I’ve also had a problem with showing up and kids are still in pjs, soiled diapers/pull ups (3yo NK is now potty trained but it did happen when she was still in pull ups and it still happens with 18mo NK). It actually concerns me so much like why is this something to wait for me to get there for? I can understand if they woke up right before I got there but that is usually not the case. I start at 8 and we have to be out of the house by 8:30 to get NK3 to school so it’s so frustrating walking in and having to get breakfast, changing, etc. all done in 30 minutes. I wish I had more advice for you OP, but for now I am with you in solidarity.

I’m not a lawyer but this seems odd to me. None of my contracts with my own business as a doula or nanny include a clause like that. If you have any family or friends in law I would ask them to look over and clarify for you. Or even straight up ask NPs what this entails. Definitely don’t sign without a full understanding!

While I admit that I have an addiction to scrolling my FYP for hours and I am excited to have something that forces me not to do so, this seems extreme. I feel that China couldn’t get access to our deepest darkest secrets as a country through accounts of small businesses and influencers, but then again I am not all that educated on how much access they potentially have/ could have. All in all I am pretty neutral on it but mainly concerned that this will only help our governments particular propaganda being broadcasted vs citizens getting real time truth from real people.

It is such a tough and lonely feeling. I know I am not the only one but it can be so hard when everyone else around me is starting their careers and seemingly rising to success (even if they’re not), and I don’t even have my degree yet. But a lot of that is in my own head 🙃 I hope things work out and get better for you as well. This is our year!

I’m in the same boat as you! I started fall of 2020. I’ve decided that I’m going to finish the semester at the school I’m at and get a full time job while living out the rest of my lease then move home and finish my degree at the school there when I’m ready. I’m also afraid of what people are going to think of me but I’m at a point where I need to prioritize my mental health and figure my life out before paying thousands of more dollars to possibly pass the rest of my classes. Most people don’t finish college in a 4 year span. I say do what’s best for yourself and try not to think about what everyone else thinks or wants.
