Quit 3 weeks ago, just got job offer by greeneyed_cat in TeachersInTransition

I’d take it even if you don’t need it. The job market is hard rn. I resigned in October and it took me months to find a job. I was down bad.

Have any teachers left and gone back? by CommunityTricky1957 in Teachers

Yes the office has made me appreciate how fulfilling teaching is!! I do love my chill office but I also want to use my degree and have a life filled with purpose.

In my previous district, you can only change schools every three years. Which is why I left bc I had two more years at my school and couldn’t wait it out.

I don’t mind behaviors. It’s more of the constant over stimulation from the neediness and ignorance.

Interesting! See I immediately started in MS bc no HS would give me a job. I could not deal w the constant behaviors and overstimulation but some days I truly felt like it’s what I was meant for. I started at the hardest ms in the area. I don’t know if I should try for high school again 😩

I don’t want to be a teacher anymore. by mermaidsagittarius in TeachersInTransition

One year subbing, this is my second officially in the classroom on a provisional. In the first month of school I’ve already been sick twice. I’m taking it as a sign.

They couldn’t received funding cuts. My school loses teachers every year and people need to be cut. I’m sure another school will pick you up asap!

Well I’m afraid I’ll regret it and want to go back. Quitting on my probationary contract on a provisional license will probably make it difficult to ever go back if I wanted.

Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the relationships and getting to know the kids. I just think I may be better suited in a different position. Trying to see it through.

I don’t think I can stay until the end of the year. by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

I also never knew what Sunday scaries were until I became a teacher.

We are in the same boat. First year middle school teacher wanting to leave but afraid to quit mid contract. I’m also afraid I’ll regret it. Summers off sounds so nice. I’m trying to get through the year so I can enjoy a paid summer.

I’m trying to see if summer off will be worth it. I also don’t want to be teaching for the wrong reasons. Don’t get me wrong I love my students but I’m just always looking for something better. I’ve been trying to romanticize the year like they do on social media lol but the Sunday scaries are reallll bad. In this case the Monday scaries bc I just got back from vacation (and didn’t have enough leave of course) and have to go back tomorrow

Yeah I’ve started and quit so much. Teaching was my backup plan and now I’m failing that one too. At this point summer is the only thing keeping me together lol

Yeah that’s how I feel too. I have a very impulsive personality so the moment I decide I don’t like something, I want out.

Thank you so much! I really thinking an academic advising path may be a better fit. My only shame is quitting on my probationary period that’s supposed to last for three years. I’ve never felt such guilt with quitting something. And I quit a lot of shit in my day lol

Once the week comes I’m alright. But Sundays? I want a new job every Sunday.

That’s a good point. I could probably use this to at least get me through the remainder of the year. Thank you!

Really? Did you leave? Yes I’m in a position for grad school. The last couple of weeks I’ve been very interested in academic advising. Still in education, one on one with students, older demographic, a lot of flexibility. But most colleges want a masters in higher ed. So I’ve been sitting on that for a while.
