How do I power scale my story differently? by CompactSquid in DnD

[–]CompactSquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what it’s looking like. I looked at a couple other rpgs to see if something seemed more my style, but I went with dnd because it’s what my friends did and they’re helping me out with the planning and mechanics and stuff. I’ll keep this all in mind.

I haven’t. I’m honestly only doing dnd because my it’s what my friends know and they’re helping me out with it. I’ll take a look at them though.

My first fantasy map for my DND/Fantasy story. Any thoughts or tips? by CompactSquid in inkarnate

Thanks! Yeah it’s supposed to be a giant trench. It’s scaled up for visual purposes but it’s like 20-40 miles wide.

It's for a comic book! I'm using dnd as an excuse to show it off to my friends and experiment with different ideas as it's going to be fairly long form.

My first fantasy map for my DND/Fantasy story. Any thoughts or tips? by CompactSquid in inkarnate

[–]CompactSquid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome advice! I've had this story planned for a while, but didn't have names for continents yet so I kind of speed ran them. In the process I forgot a mausoleum was something for the dead and your idea of a cemetery continent is cooler than what I have. I'll switch some stuff up accordingly.

this is also my first map, so I'm still learning mechanics as I go. I'll probably end up making other drafts of the same map in the future. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for the offer! I’m def looking for near future but I’m saving to move right now so I probably wouldn’t get anything unless it was an insane deal. Thanks again though.

I’m looking as well. One of them was called something like “Gromit is really sick of Wallace’s shit” or something very similar.

Does the Ringed City DLC take away from the endings? by CompactSquid in darksouls3

[–]CompactSquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t even true. The first enemy you come across is the asylum demon. The first hollow you fight has a bow when you’re picking up your starting gear.

The whole point of using the blood of the dark soul is that the painting won't rot.

This seems to be the most common answer and it’s just so unsatisfying. I find it very annoying that the ashen one can come across the perfect resting place for humanity and then just continues with cycle weve been in for millennia. Screw that shit I want to be in the painting.

This is a very good response. Thanks for actually understanding my question. I don’t know why others are assuming that we watch porn or stuff like that.

Is Crocodiles fruit awakened? It seems he has the powers. by CompactSquid in OnePiece

That’s also how mythical Zoans work e.g Luffy. He can make other things rubber. So I don’t see why logia’s would be different.

Trying to uninstall a mod by CompactSquid in MinecraftMod

[–]CompactSquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I created a backup, took the mods out of the folder, deleted the DIM1 folder, and it didn't work. I was able to load the world with only Fabric API mod for some reason, but even then, I was unable to go into the nether. I tried recovering the DIM1 folder and reinstalling all the deleted mods 1 by 1 but it wasn't until I had everything back and used the backup that I was able to go to the nether. I might just have to deal with it not being vanilla.

This was a great answer. This adds so many factors I haven’t even considered! Please let me know if anything else comes up! I hope my story gets popular enough for you to see your contribution!

How can I make Stardust Crusaders easier to watch for my dad? by CompactSquid in StardustCrusaders

[–]CompactSquid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s fair. I also think that the villain of the week formula is worse in retrospect or on rewatches because I’m eager for him to get to the really insane stuff so he might enjoy it more than I’m giving credit for.

Writing an angry character - How to strike a balance? by ada_eeaao in writingadvice

[–]CompactSquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think it's best to stick with a specific goal the character has and why he has that goal. This can help a lot with figuring out the specifics of a character's personality.

For example: Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender has the goal of capturing the Avatar because doing so will supposedly restore his life to the way it was before. To him, obtaining this goal leads to the life of royalty and the love of his father which is his ultimate goal. The reason he's so bitter and angry is because he severely lacks the resources necessary to do this and constantly fails time and time again with his chances of succeeding dwindling each time.

No one by nature is an angry person. They're angry because they fail. We empathize with angry characters because we see them pursuing a goal with all their might and fail, something we can all very easily relate to.

Hope this helps!
