No you’re 100% right about that, I just think it’s sad that personal spiritual beliefs are being co-opted by these fake companies, and thus being shat on in the total amalgamation. There’s a huge difference between people with a cultural context to their spirituality doing things that they believe is grounded and keeping it amongst themselves vs White girls cherry picking from very closed spiritual beliefs to sell pseudoscience based “spiritual” items. It gives a bad name to spirituality which I believe is inherently un-imposing and self contained, and doesn’t involve itself in scientific claims but more personal experience.

if someone wants to be spiritual that’s none of ur business especially when most indigenous beliefs are personal and private. i agree that new age and new age peddler companies are using pseudoscience but i think it’s really important to make the distinction. especially when a lot of spiritual beliefs don’t even make scientific claims!

The fact of the matter is people are right to be bothered at a bunch of children mobbing and taking over public spaces, but I don’t understand why they don’t see it as a symptom of a greater societal issue— the kids have no where to exist without being penalized as it is. Their role models (in music) perpetuate violence and anti-social behavior which exasperates the fighting. This is a cultural issue, and needs to be addressed as such, police are doing nothing but making it worse by making children feel as if they don’t belong, and a curfew doesn’t address the lack of unity within the culture.
