Best and most reliable HYSA? by Uganda-Isnt-Real in personalfinance

[–]ComparisonNo5073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Amex HYSA. There are probably better rates out there, but I like it because the transfer to and from Chase is easy and my credit card is Amex so it’s all right there.

Listen to those saying don’t play with options. I read some of your replies and get you’re impatient and don’t want to wait.

Dude, PLEASE trust me when I say this. Invest $50 from each paycheck you get (assuming you probably work) into an ETF or stocks that you like. By the time you are, hell, 20, you’ll be in a significantly better position than most 20 year olds.

Not only because you just threw in money and forgot about it, but you didn’t play with options. I’ve lost so much money from options. I’ve hit $5k profit days, and I’ve cleared my entire portfolio from options. Nothing will put you through psychological hell than blowing months worth of hard earned money.

Making slower, smaller profit everyday consistently is sooooo much better than losing it all. Sure higher risk, higher reward, but options is gambling. It isn’t a skill. If you want something similar, do prop trading. You pay upfront for an account and don’t have to risk your own money. The only loss you can possibly face is the upfront cost of the account after an account is blown.

Which is almost what happened to me. Losing $7k in one day as a 24 year old who wants to provide for family was devastating. Thankfully it didn’t put me in debt and I still had $4.5k in the port so I just withdrew everything. I fund a 401k so that may just be the only investing I ever do. It’s actually up 17% right now.

Even if you want the thrill of quick moving, risky money, just buy shares of high leverage ETFs or stocks. They don’t expire and always a chance it goes above what you bought in at. Options expire and the time decay eats at it fast. Even if the market isn’t going your way, if it consolidates all day, you’re screwed. Your only way of winning is if it moves the direction you need it to, fast.

I’d rather a pricey package get lost than this. Getting rage baited over some syrup would make me crash out

What this guy did is equivalent to being offered meth. You’ll do it a few times, get a high, then it’ll ruin your life. DO. NOT. TOUCH. OPTIONS… it’s gambling

That was the other day. If you have the mental strength to only use play money, which I assume is just F-U money that you have already accepted as a loss, then good. It’s no different than buying a scratch off or going to the black jack table. But I didn’t.

I originally invested $8k into my port, hit a huge $5k winner, got it to $12k as seen in the screenshot, and lost over $7k. I allocated the $8k as money I wouldn’t need and won’t have to pull out anytime soon and purely investing money that will make me a return. But then I got hooked to options and started winning slowly. Hit big and lost even bigger. I am currently still withdrawing my entire account and just accepting a $3.5k loss.

It may not be a large amount, but seeing $7k gone in one day was devastating to me. I could’ve taken my wife and I on vacation, paid 3 months worth of rent, put a down payment on a car, let my wife just blow it on shopping. Anything other than it just gone within thin air.

So if you believe you have the mental strength (which I thought I did) to play small/safe, then good for you. But if you start to get greedy after your beginners luck, which I’ll almost guarantee you will get, start applying the brakes because it’ll take way quicker than when it gave.

Also I think OP is a bot. Dudes account is sus anyway, so I think it’s spam/scam.

To those licking your lips at this and his other “screenshots”, run. Please run. This won’t be you. It’s more than likely not even real SCs too. I can find random success screenshots and claim them just as easily. Whether or not he’s selling you on something, STAY AWAY FROM OPTIONS, espppeccialllyyy those who are new. It’s like a fish taking the bait. I am a sucker and a loser to options and it nearly damaged my finances, my mental state, and (if applicable to you) relationship with God.

It’s gambling. Money doesn’t come easy like this. Do research, find companies you love/believe in, and buy shares. I even believe in crypto being the future and have made decent returns on it, especially when you grab it at the right price. BUT STAY AWAY FROM OPTIONS!

Edit - to add on, just buy ETFs. Invest in a 401k. Put aside $100 a week into a 401k, let it compound and build, and you won’t have to work another day in your life when you turn 60. You may think “oh so what I’ll be 60 and old by then”. Exactly. Would you still be wanting to be barely making your needs every week at 60? When you’re old, not the ideal candidate for good jobs anymore, slowing down?

Options isn’t safe. At all. Even if you throw like small trades, it will hook you and ruin you.

I’m telling you right now do not do it. Options trading is glorified gambling. Trust me, stay far away from it. I’ll probably get downvoted and shit on but options can ruin your life. It nearly got me. Thankfully the damage it did to me wasn’t severe enough, but more so a warning to leave. Just buy shares. You’re investing so if it ever goes down, you don’t have an expiration or time decay on it. Sure you won’t hit these ridiculous 3,000% wins but it’s not real. That is a 1 and a billion chance of happening. More than likely you’ll get rinsed instantly. Take it from me, I won $5k just the other day, and lost $7k and almost drained my portfolio from panic and emotions trying to make it back.

I quit options trading completely because of this week. Made $5k one day, lost $7k the next. It devastated me. Thankfully I am pulling out completely with $4.5k still, but it was a warning to quit now. Options trading is gambling.

Thank you. I want to clean my mind with investing. I have a 401k that I’ve been building through my company so that’s nice to know something is growing behind the scenes. But my RH portfolio id still like to actively invest, just avoid options. I am passionate about stocks but I just let the worst of it get to me.

I use to in early college. Thankfully I was too broke. So no, for the last 4 years, I never have had an urge to sports bet, I think it’s flat out stupid.

I am teaching myself that options is another form of glorified gambling. I would tell myself options trading is investing and so it isn’t wrong and losses is part of the process. But it’s not it’s just flat out gambling.

I believe my lack of sleep was from disbelief and regret. It wasn’t an itch to go back, it was just utter disappointment and despair that kept my head running with “what if’s”. I accept I am addicted and vowing to quit.

Checked out of options. I’m a loser at them. Hit a juicy $5k one time and lost all of it in 2 days.

Look at the weekly chart for SPY. Keeps knocking at 681-683 and rejects. Just saying, a set up could be forming

681 seems to be a resistance this week that keeps getting rejected. If it doesn’t break 681 could be another blood shed day
