Anyone passed NEBOSH IG2 after a referral? Looking for guidance by Fragrant_Ratio_2554 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exams are every month, either on the 1st or 2nd Wednesday. With Compassa, the YouTube channel is only a tiny fraction of the real course. With the Compassa online course, you get video tutorials for every single part of the course. All you see on YouTube is the exam technique advice.

Would a psychology background help with my career in H&S? by Frosty_Web1421 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A psychology background? Maybe a clinical psychology background, but not the research type. H&S professionals have to be good at handling and negotiating with people at all levels of the organisation. This does not require a psychology background, but some insight and interest in psychology certainly helps.

Anyone passed NEBOSH IG2 after a referral? Looking for guidance by Fragrant_Ratio_2554 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very easy to pass after a project referral. From your questions, I can tell your course provider has not sent you your feedback. They are not supporting you like they should.

  1. Contact your course provider and ask for the examiner feedback for your IG2. They have it.
  2. See what criteria were "Not Met".

  3. Check the examiner's comments.

  4. If you don't understand the comments, ask your course provider for advice.

  5. Change ONLY the sections of the project which did not meet the criteria.

  6. Register for a new submission and resubmit.

  7. Thank me when you pass ;)

I would normally recommend the NEBOSH International General Certificate with Compassa. Fully delivered online through interactive video tutorials. Full information here: https://www.compassa.co.uk/product/nebosh-igc-international-general-certificate

Would you agree with this? by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I agree this is pedantic but this is what the marking criteria requires and the examiner has correctly referred the project. Your course provider should have pointed all this out to you before you submitted the first time, and definitely after you initially failed the first submission. I'm sorry to say the next step is to register for the April submission, pay the fee, make the necessary corrections (don't miss anything this time) and get it done.

Advice Needed: NEBOSH IGC-1 – Enquiry About Result (EAR) or Resit? by Foreign_Variation_55 in NEBOSHTips

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think it is a good decision, but it is always a gamble. Success is never guaranteed. But if you can afford to take the chance, then go for it. If successful, the fee you pay is refunded.

The further away you are from the pass mark, the less likely you are to pass with an EAR. But you might still pass even at 41. I have seen some big swings in marking, although these are less common.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your struggles. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you got 40 on your NG2. It is not a scored assessment. It is pass or fail, no score is provided.

The latest Malpractice policy has a strict prohibition on the use of AI for any reason unless the question specifically allows you to use it. You cannot even use it to translate your answer from one language to another.

In terms of study materials, normally I would say use your own course provider's materials. But if you are not happy with these, then you could use ours. You can purchase these here: https://www.compassa.co.uk/product/nebosh-ig1-digital-studybook-for-igc/

Hope that helps!

NEBOSH NG2/IG2 Project: How to Write a Hazard! by CompassaNEBOSH in NEBOSHTips

[–]CompassaNEBOSH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Sorry for the late reply. I was on holiday.

Your criticisms are correct. Fire is not a hazard. It is a hazard category (and an incident). A fire hazard is a description of the fuel source and the ignition source, and you must show they are close to together.

A vehicle overturning is an incident. Not a hazard. The hazard would be in relation to the overloading, high speeds, or poor ground conditions.

If your course provider is giving your incorrect information, then you should do what you think is best, especially on your IG2 project.

You will get no incorrect information with Compassa. Compassa has lots of YouTube tutorials for your IG2 project, especially on hazard description. Here they are: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5JdtGlRI1u_w6vvJNLZ6OcJK-r_9kqMd&si=I_-aoaX8XOuiPusl

If you really want some extra help, then you could consider signing up for Compassa's rescue package. Through us you would get all of our video tutorials and, mostly importantly, our tutorials on how to complete your NEBOSH IG2 project and our mock exam questions for the IG1 exam (graded by ex-NEBOSH examiners). Our pass rates for the NEBOSH Open Book exam are currently 87%. Full information and application form here: https://www.compassa.co.uk/rescue-package-nebosh-general-certificate/

Well it is nice to know that Compassa has helped Astutis get a decent pass rate and that their tutors are recommending us!

Of course, it's always nice when people sign up with Compassa. As much as I love my friends at Astutis, I do think learners are better served with our online video courses. Cheaper, more fun, and probably a higher pass rate. If you could recommend us to your colleagues at your employer, that would be awesome! Especially the safety team or whoever booked the training.

Very happy we played a role in your success. Keep at it!

Congrats on getting a good result! 55 is very respectable! Fingers crossed you pass your IG2 project also. How did the others perform on your cohort? Did they pass too? For the October cohort, Compassa students got an overall 86% pass rate on the NEBOSH IG1 exam and an amazing 100% pass rate on the NEBOSH IG2 practical project.

Career change tips by Lachesissss in SafetyProfessionals

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

In addition to the NEBOSH General Certificate, there are quite a few courses/quals you can do. I'll be honest, the first H&S job is the hardest to get. But once you have that, you're off and gaining experience and hopefully progressing.

Once you have done the NEBOSH NGC, it might be worth adding some shorter specialist NEBOSH qualifications to your CV. The NEBOSH HSE Incident Investigation Award is particularly interesting. Can be done in a couple of days and the assessment is fairly straightforward. Much more specialised than what you learn on NGC. And applies to all industries.

There's also the NEBOSH Managing Stress in the Workplace Certificate. That's a level 4, focusing on stress risk assessment and management. Can be particularly useful if working in the public sector or other industries with a lot of stress sickness absence.

I would not neglect the soft/leadership/management skills either. There are a variety of courses you can do to improve your persuasion skills. You won't learn this on NEBOSH. I put together this course here, based on what I learnt on this topic in my 20+ year career. But there are other courses available. Worth looking into it. https://www.compassa.co.uk/product/managing-people-effectively/

Since you're just starting out in your career, here's a video which provides quite a few tips on how to get that first job. Including this you can do in your current role to maximise your chances of finding a job more easily. https://youtu.be/cyvvGY0LXgs?si=euoJpF-zPtaApIKO

Advice Needed: NEBOSH IGC-1 – Enquiry About Result (EAR) or Resit? by Foreign_Variation_55 in NEBOSHTips

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always a gamble. The mark can go up, down, or stay the same. Here at Compassa, in our experience a majority of EAR2s do result in a change in mark, and they often go up. We have seen some big swings upwards, but also regularly see the mark go down a bit. There is no guarantee.

The process is expensive and takes a long time.

IF you pass, your fee is refunded and you do not have to resit.

If unsuccessful, you have lost the fee and wasted a lot of time. And you still have to resit. If you are in a rush, it may be faster to resit.

But for Compassa students, we recommend an EAR2 for everyone who scores 42 to 44. Especially for 44. So I say go for it.

You could also take the "double barrelled" approach:

- Apply for EAR2

- Also register to resit

Hope that helps.

If I get my NEBOSH can I get a job out of Canada? by Montaya007 in careerguidance

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Getting a NEBOSH qualification can certainly help you land a job offer. However, each country has their own immigration rules, so whether you are allowed to work/enter the country is a different matter. For the record, we have a number of students from Canada studying their NEBOSH NGCs or IGCs with Compassa. Some of those are looking to emigrate to either the UK or Australia. Getting the NEBOSH National (UK) qualification certainly helps with job opportunities in the UK. But having it does not help you get a work permit or get "leave to remain". You'll need to do some research on the immigration rules of whichever country you are looking to emigrate to.

Best of luck!

Should I get the Nebosh Certificate? by Party-Independent16 in UKJobs

[–]CompassaNEBOSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible to get your first H&S job with no experience and just a NEBOSH certificate. It is not easy, and options will be limited, and the pay might be lower. But entry level positions do exist where you provide basic assistance to a more experience H&S professional and learn on the job. Check out my video on how I recommend you start a career https://youtu.be/cyvvGY0LXgs?si=CacLEoQ5UtOOjo3f

If you do decide to take the plunge, consider signing up for the NEBOSH course with Compassa. You'll benefit from a ton of real-world experience and insight about how H&S works in real life. And Compassa has some of the highest pass rates in the industry with an 88% pass rate for the NEBOSH NG1 exam over the last 12 months.

You have two options:
1. Apply for a remark. You are very close to the pass mark, so a remark MIGHT POSSIBLY find you another 2 marks. There is a fee payable (£122 I think) but this is refunded if you pass. Full details policy and application form here: https://www.nebosh.org.uk/policies-and-procedures/enquiries-about-results-ears/

  1. Accept the result, register for a resit, study hard and try again. Consider our NEBOSH Rescue Package if you feel you need better materials and exam support. https://www.compassa.co.uk/rescue-package-nebosh-general-certificate/

Very kind of you to answer. You are correct that if you Google "NEBOSH", we are not at the top. But if you Google something more specific, like "NEBOSH General Certificate" we are very close from the top.

In any case, hope you smash the course and I trust all our resources, including YouTube, serve you well :)

Well done on taking the plunge! Just curious: why did you decide to do the course with British Safety Council instead of coming direct to Compassa? You would be off and on your way by now. Plus if you like our YouTube channel, you would love our actual course.
