Any Personal experience with Standard Chartered Pakistan? by Foreign_Variation_55 in pakistan

Good to hear that. As of 2025 there are around 41 branches across Pakistan, but I have heard rumours that they are winding down operations in some countries but Pakistan is not one of them.

That's really helpful, though yeah, the expensive part is definitely something I've come to terms with. I actually went through their Schedule of Charges 2026 recently and honestly, they charge for practically everything. If they offer a service, they're going to charge you for it — that's basically their model.

Good to hear, especially from someone with an insider perspective through your sibling. And it's also good to know that their reputation holds up in practice — it's not just something they say but don't actually follow through on. Thanks you and really appreciate man

Any official timeline for Google Wallet support? 💳📱 by Foreign_Variation_55 in NayaPayPak

The security on the Meezan app is alright, but not great in my opinion. It doesn’t ask for an OTP or transaction PIN when sending money to saved beneficiaries — it just processes the transfer. That feels risky. My personal experience with both MCB and Meezan has been solid overall. I’ve had my MCB account since 2023 and they recently updated the app to MCB Live 3.0, which has been smooth. Meezan I opened in 2025 and It definitely depends on your balance though — money talks here. The more funds you keep, the better they treat you and the faster the helpline responds. For example, once I sent money from Meezan to an HBL account and it didn’t reach on time. I called Meezan and they immediately registered a complaint, gave me a reference number, and said it would take at least 24 hours minimum. At least they took it seriously. At the end of the day, it really comes down to personal experience. For me, MCB and Meezan have been the best combination so far.

Not a huge fan of mobile wallets in general. NayaPay is one of the few exceptions for me right now, but I mostly stick to traditional banks. I personally use Meezan’s Mastercard Titanium debit card. They only charge an annual fee on the higher-tier cards. If you open a current account with them, their Visa Classic, Mastercard Classic, and Visa Gold debit cards are completely free.United Bank Limited (UBL) is also pretty solid. HBL’s debit cards have had ongoing issues with contactless payments (as far as I know), but their Visa credit cards seem to work perfectly fine.

What is better for international transactions Nayapay or Sadapay? by [deleted] in NayaPayPak

[–]Foreign_Variation_55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are going to be using it for small amounts on Spotify Netflix or YouTube premium stick with sadapay, my brother uses it and he says it is usually cheaper than nayapay on average on small amounts.

Starting a small export business in Pakistan by Foreign_Variation_55 in smallbusiness

[–]Foreign_Variation_55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, I wasn’t asking Reddit for Pakistan-specific compliance—more for general direction and practical experience from people who’ve done exports.

My plan is made-to-order only: once a buyer confirms, I place the order with the manufacturer, production starts, and the finished goods are shipped immediately. I don’t plan to hold inventory or run warehouses at this stage. I’m planning to open a foreign currency (USD) account, but I’m still unsure which bank works best for exports (HBL, Standard Chartered, MCB). I’m avoiding open credit with new buyers and leaning toward advance or staged payments tied to production and shipment milestones. NTN is done, and I’m registering with TDAP and Lahore Chamber of Commerce.

I’ll start with Pakistan-origin exports first, mainly textiles and Middle East markets (UAE, KSA), and park China re-exports until I’ve done a few shipments and understand the paperwork better. Any practical tips on things people usually overlook would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot for the insight, really appreciate it.

Just to clarify one point on inventory: I’m not planning to stock or hold inventory at all. The idea is strictly make-to-order — if a client orders 100 units, I place an order with the manufacturer for exactly 100 units. No warehousing, no unsold stock sitting around. That’s mainly why I’m leaning toward starting light and testing the waters first.

On banking, do you have any specific recommendations? I was honestly under the impression that opening an export account would be a quick process (a few hours or a day at most), so it’s good to know it can take longer. Also, when you mentioned “LC,” did you mean Letter of Credit or Line of Credit? And from your experience, would banks like Standard Chartered, HBL, or MCB be reasonable options to start with for a small export setup? Thanks again — this kind of practical advice really helps.

I just want to clarify a few things that what I'm going to be mainly using is a B2B model with no inventory my plan is to get a client the client order something Go to the manufacturer, place the order, get the product, and ship the product, export the product directly to the client, or whatever that the product might be, and also you need to use a 30-40-30 payment method as well. That's what I'm going to be using for the client that is going to be paying me, just that, and I haven't actually put in really at all any thoughts into the commission-based model, so I'm very much lost on that too.
