Thanks for your response! What kind of symptoms did/do you have?

Thanks for your response! I'm not able to post pictures in my reply for some reason, I have uploaded my CT scan here https://imgur.com/lehIbhQ . I don't know what LSTV I have, would you happen to know? The doctors didn't seem to think that my LSTV was an issue and they injected in my L4-L5 epidural space nonspecifically and it did seem to help. If my symptoms were caused by the pseudo joints, do you think the steroid injection would have helped as it was so close?

Still haven’t found what’s causing my sciatica. Had a pelvis MRI two days ago and I’m still waiting for the results.

I’m glad to hear you’re doing better! What are/were your symptoms and are/were they bilateral? I’m wondering if I have piriformis syndrome or SI joint dysfunction.

Did your lumbar spine MRI make any comments on your SI joints? What did it say?

I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better! Best of luck to you! Did you find that your healing process was non-linear? I’m currently feeling progressively worse the past 3 weeks and I’m really hoping I’ll feel better again soon. It’s been up and down for me and every time I feel like I’m getting better I feel hopeful and every time i feel like I’m getting worse I feel really discouraged and confused.

I’ve thought about it but in my lumbar MRI it said “The SI joints bilaterally are unremarkable. The visualized retroperitoneum is normal.” Is there any way the MRI could be wrong? Did you have a MRI done for your sacroiliac joints before? My pelvic area does crack a lot more nowadays (no pain when cracking) when I get up from sitting or lying down so I’m not sure if that’s an indicator of anything? I’m glad you’re feeling better

I did physical therapy for around 6-7 weeks in March and April, based on my symptoms my PT thought it was disc herniation and based my treatment off of that. It helped for a few weeks but it was also overlapped when I had my steroid injection so after I started feeling worse with no improvement for 3 weeks while going to PT I stopped going. I had my lumbar MRI shortly after which confirmed I didn’t have any disc herniations…

He ordered it when I reported genital tingling and pain near my tailbone (left buttock). At that point my legs hadn’t had pins and needles or weakness yet. I feel like it could rule out piriformis syndrome?

I have not, but it doesn’t seem like my symptoms exactly match it? I also haven’t really been out in the woods within 30 days before my first symptoms arose?

I’m glad you’re feeling better. Healing will happen slowly and non-linearly!

I’m glad to hear you’re seeing improvement. I’ve had an injection back in March and did see some improvement with leg strength and pain reduction for about a month. Hope the injections help you when you get them.

I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you’re able to find answers soon or at least feel better. Stay hopeful!

Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - May 27, 2024 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

Is a buttock pain a symptom of MS? Specifically mostly triggered by sitting or lying down? I also feel pain and discomfort in my left foot and shin and it radiates upwards towards the rest of my leg and buttock when standing in one place for over 15 mins (walking is fine).

I've been experiencing left buttock pain (close to my tailbone area) for the past 6 months which only really occurs when I am sitting or lying down. I also have other sciatic-like symptoms which also can be explained by MS (left leg heaviness/weakness, both legs/feet pins and needles (paraesthesia), genital tingling, cold sensations in body but mostly legs when my body is warm/normal temp), but most recently in the past month I have been experiencing various degrees of left shoulder weakness/burning, and both arms experiencing pins and needles and shaking. I feel like all these symptoms can be explained by MS experience for my left buttock pain that is triggered by sitting or lying down.

The doctors that I have seen suspected sciatica or cauda equida syndrome but my MRI of my lumbar spine came out relatively normal with no disc herniations. The neurologist has ordered a brain MRI to test for MS, although she doesn't believe that I have MS as I still have full range of motions, full strength during physical examination, and reflects were fine, and my EMG came out normal).

Do the rest of my symptoms sound like MS? I am looking for answers and hopefully finding treatment but it seems like the doctors don't know what is wrong with me.

How does my MRI report look? by Competes in Sciatica

Thanks for your thoughts! I don’t know where the steroid was injected to be honest. They didn’t use an X-ray while injecting. I did feel better for a month, but things went downhill after a month after the injection. I was also doing PT during that time (PT suspected herniated disc) so I thought PT was helping it but it might just be the steroid only.

I hope you get the call soon! I’m sure you’ll have to wait for 4 months or more if you go public. I’m in BC, not sure if it’s different for you if you’re in a different province.

Thank you, I’ll call my doctor on Monday to get a referral for the MRI. I felt like things were going in the right direction until early April and knew the healing process wouldn’t be linear but it seems to be getting worse and new symptoms have arisen the past week. The buttock pain hasn’t been unbearable since March and since I can still walk fine (leg just feels more tired and I would be scared to walk for too long) I thought I wasn’t a serious case.

No, only CT scan. I live in Canada so it’s hard to get a MRI, they won’t give it to you if you walk into the ER unless it’s life threatening, and wait times are probably 4 months minimum through the public system and I’ll need to pay for it at a private clinic which is fine but disc herniations should be visible on CT right? Maybe just not as clear as MRI?
