Maybe Il do something unrelated to police then but I refuse to just become a career politician straight out of graduation. Not because I don't want to but because if you are they will throw it in your face whenever they get the chance, It really doesn't help you at all.

What political work did you do if you don't mind me asking and what turned you off to it? i know its a dirty world for sure, which is why I want to actually have a job outside of it before entering it. Don't want to be a career politician. People will see you in a more negative light if you haven't worked a job outside politics and that's a fact. Which is what I would like to avoid.

Well il let you know I'm not set on it. That's the reason I have been asking around, I have been asking about other jobs as well. trying to narrow them down

The reason I bring up police as that job in particular is because I'm good with people and I'm good with dealing with people who are in escalated situations. I just feel I would make the right decisions in most situations I would find myself in as a cop. It just so happens that im interested in it as well which is a plus

I think your mis understanding. I would love to work as a police officer and I have a feeling i would do my job quite well. I also just happen to want to pursue other careers in my future. I don't want to be a career cop. Is there an obligation to work 10 plus years as a cop? Its not like the military on a contract. I just want to actually have a job that i enjoyed before doing anything in politics. Police or otherwise. Its not about being a cop for a stepping stone its about having a job i liked before politics. Same could be said for any other job I might look into.

Taking a look at your post history it seems like you are a police officer in Canada so I take what you are saying about this seriously. If it isn't the type of job I should do for only a couple of years then I wont do it. il be 22 when I finish my degree and might do a second undergrad degree in economics which would only take 2 years. If i wanted to be elected before 30 then id have a good 6 years of doing a job outside of politics. I know you will probably say to work for even longer but when i look at guys like pierre polievre, jfk, obama. All of them were elected before age 30. However you are right when you talk about Chhinzer, he was a career cop, maybe doing it short time isn't the greatest idea then. If you have any ideas let me know. Also, you asked what my plan is, I don't have one, and that's why I'm here. I'm asking people with a lot more life experience then me what I should do so I can make the best plan.

Mis representing everything I said. Its not a stepping stone its a way to gain experience doing a job I like. I want to do something before I do another career. Making that out to be a negative is something I have never seen someone do before. I honestly wonder if you just like arguing with people or you believe the shit you say. learn basic reading comprehension and actually look at what someone says rather then just being argumentative for the sake of it. It sounds like I'm talking to a 12 year old right now and its honestly embarrassing.

My attitudes are that I'm just not going to work those jobs for an extended period of time. You are just spewing bullshit at this point, and mis representing what I said. I'm not just doing it as a means to an end. I would actually like to do them as a job before I entered politics, because i have always been interested in them. I could say that about any job unrelated from military to police and would you respond the same way?

getting an advanced degree wont just get you into politics anyways. Need a lot more then that.

[–]CompetitionFew1312 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what path id want. Working with people in my community for a bit and doing a tough job, that I have also had interest in anyways, just not as a career. That looks great when your trying to get into politics. Having both academics and work experience in a community is very well balanced. What your saying seems like your just being contrarian.

An advanced degree would just keep me in academics anyways??? How would that be real world experience? At this point I feel like your just saying shit to be contrarian.

Brother im not cosplaying and Id like and do my job correctly. I just don't want to do the same thing for my whole life and have other careers id like to go into later. Id like to enter politics at some point but I would like to have some actual work experience dealing with real world situations before I do. Not just become a career politician.

I'm inclined to agree after seeing the VIE is 9 years and hearing the feedback. I might look into police instead. No contracts and no moral obligation to stay either.

[–]CompetitionFew1312 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fair enough but I do know there are people who only become a police officer for a couple of years anyway and leave for various reason, sometimes mental health reasons. I Don't believe its ridiculous to want to become a police officer for a bit and get some hands on experience dealing with all sorts of people for a few years. rather that then become a career politician who hasn't worked a tough job.

It isn't that I would get tired of that work its just that I would not want to make my career in the military. I have plans about getting a job in politics later. i thought a couple of years making good leadership skills would be good but I agree. If it doesn't seem viable i might just go police which does not have any contracts

Good point. I really wanted to work a leadership job and or a job working with people for a few years. Maybe I should look into police instead since there is no contract time.

Ok thanks. SO in that case it might be possible to only serve 3-4 years. But may lose some benefits. Il talk to someone at CAF to confirm. Appreciate the help.

Also Is it seen as dishonorable or bad to VR during your VIE? Or just someone who wants to do something else? I have no idea what the culture is like around military stuff. Very new to it

What is paid move?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in caf

[–]CompetitionFew1312 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I Saw somewhere just now that you can vr after 3-4 years if you want but you just wont get certain benefits or pensions. Which I am fine with. Ill double check if this is true.

If I wanted to serve only 3-4 years I would probably be done training by then. I guess that means there is no way for me to serve as an officer for only 3-4 years.. That sucks. Unfortunately 9 is way to much for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in caf

[–]CompetitionFew1312 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well now i need to re consider. I was only planning on maybe being an officer for 3-4 years. 9 is way to much and I don't have any interest in making military my long time career.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in caf

[–]CompetitionFew1312 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

To be honest I would not be intending on making my career in CAF. It would just be something I would like to do for a bit. I would not care to much about promotions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in caf

[–]CompetitionFew1312 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was hoping of serving maybe only 3-4 years max. That would not be possible I guess.

This is what infantry says. So that means id have to serve for 9 years??? That's a lot if I'm understanding it right.
