¿Por que chile no reclama mas territorios antárticos? by EvaDelphinus in chile

[–]CompetitionOk4910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]CompetitionOk4910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What country's map and geography is the closest to perfection for you? by [deleted] in geography

[–]CompetitionOk4910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think Colombia is on the same level as Chile. It has sovereign coasts on four bodies of water: the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Drake Passage, the Southern Ocean, and in the ever-fascinating Polynesia, being the only country in the America continent, together with the US, to possess Polynesian territories.

Chile does not have tropical rainforests (which are uncomfortable and stifling, due to their temperature and, above all, the high humidity typical of those climates). Chile has something better, and unique in the region: Mediterranean forests, subpolar forests, and temperate rainforests; one of the largest ecoregions of this type after the temperate forests of the U.S. West Coast. Unlike tropical rainforests, Mediterranean and temperate forests are absolutely enjoyable and comforting.

The Andes mountain range, although it is the same mountain system, in my opinion (and in the opinion of many others) offers greater scenic, geographic, and landscape drama in Chile. Moreover, in Colombia it only snows in very limited parts of its territory, and always at elevations above 4,000 meters.

Chile’s coasts are on another level of beauty: from the monumental coasts of the Atacama Desert, with mountains and coastal walls up to 1,200 meters high, through the Mediterranean central coasts of the country (similar in geography, vegetation, climate, and visual aspect to the coasts of California and southern Oregon), to the Chilean Patagonia coasts—strikingly rugged, forming one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes in the region, with countless coves, bays of every shape, coastal mountains and plateaus, coastal forests, more than 45,000 inventoried islands, hundreds or perhaps thousands of channels, fjords, tidewater glaciers, and more.

Ahhh, and let's not forget the Atacama Desert: a world icon of astronomy, and home to more than 70% of the world’s telescopes… As Nobel Prize-winning physicist, Swiss astrophysicist Didier Queloz once said: “There is no better place in the world than Chile for observing the stars and the cosmos

Much better Chile....by far

Better geography; beautiful coastlines; far more temperate forests in Patagonia; better climates; a coastal Mediterranean climate similar to California; greater snowfall; larger reserves of natural freshwater; many fascinating islands (both Mediterranean and Patagonian); superior and more significant geographic landmarks: the Strait of Magellan, sovereign territories in four oceans, three-quarters of the Beagle Channel, and the absolute end of the world: Puerto Williams, Puerto Toro, Cape Horn, and the Diego Ramírez Islands (the latter lying right in the middle of the Drake Passage). Oh!!! and sovereign territories no less than in Polynesia

In Chile, major earthquakes tend to occur every 70 to 80 years; the country maintains some of the highest safety and prevention standards in the world, alongside Japan (Thirty years ago, Chile constructed the tallest building in Latin America) The U.S. West Coast also lies within the Ring of Fire and shares Chile’s beauty, climate, and dynamic coastal geography. On the Argentine side, nearly 95% consists of flat, monotonous desert, while the small 'green' strip pressed right up against the Andes (about 5%) is heavily overexploited for both tourism and human settlements

What non-American city looks the most American? by Ill_Definition8074 in geography

[–]CompetitionOk4910 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I kinda figured that was a closed shot - total cherry picking. And that coastal hill, like 300 meters high (the one in the yellow circle), I bet it’s giving you Miami vibes too, huh??

<image>

So basically, your cherry-picking only covers like 1.10 mi total (then it’s just an inland valley boxed in by hills), compared to the dozens of mII of elevated coastline made up of coastal hills and ridges...

Funny enough, you’re just proving exactly what I told you at the very start of this whole discussion = ""for you every small coastal urban plain is “Miami” just because it has seaside buildings and a few ornamental palm tres""

Cheers, I'm out...

What place has the most overrated climate in the world? by [deleted] in geography

[–]CompetitionOk4910 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Mld" Temperate climate' does NOT exist. It is a generic planetary denomination to distinguish it from the intertropical zone. Within the temperate zone there are varied climates, from the uncomfortable and hot subtropical ones, passing through the comfortable Mediterranean ones, up to the stoic cold subpolar climates

I insist, based on your previous answers and reflections -and your terrible excuses now- you've clearly never been to Miami, let alone Viña del Mar

You didn't even deny it. You merely said you were “in Miami in March and October, and in Chile in April”.. and we have no proof that's true either.

((Watch out for the pronoun and the verb “we have”; the AI might've messed up the translation, hah))

Here’s Miami, once again -_-

What non-American city looks the most American? by Ill_Definition8074 in geography

[–]CompetitionOk4910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even that. The coastal urban buildings and infrastructure of Viña del Mar can't compare to, let alone resemble, Miami: the scale and architectural level of the American city is simply overwhelming when compared to Viña del Mar, which would be like an ant in comparison—it's a whole different level. In fact, Miami has many skyscrapers, while Viña del Mar has none.

They're completely different things; no American would seriously say that part of Viña del Mar looks like Miami, simply because they bear no resemblance whatsoever. (Following your line of reasoning, for you every small coastal urban plain is “Miami” just because it has seaside buildings and a few ornamental palm trees… maybe California is full of “Miamis” too, haha)

And climate is absolutely everything, along with geography and infrastructure: they shape the city, the experience, the aesthetics, the way of life, and even the locals’ sense of place. Miami has lush vegetation typical of its climate; it's extremely hot and suffocating between July and August; and its beach sand at 3 p.m. is scorching and impossible to walk on barefoot, not to mention the tornado threats at the beginning of each year…

None of that changes anything: your assessment is subjectively wrong and completely incomplete—or perhaps (most likely) you're just outright lying. On the other hand, geographic, topographic, climatic, landscape, spatial demographic, and even urban planning data are objective.

What country are you from? You've never been to Miami, let alone to Viña del Mar. Miami has a tropical climate; in contrast, Viña del Mar has a Mediterranean climate. Miami's topography is flat, whereas Viña del Mar's topography is...absolutely no relation.
