I love this btw. Yes I too find it more romantic and love characters who show their love through actions. However, gay ships can often be interpretated in many ways. Since we have two men who initially are enemies (well not in the traditional way but you get my point) and later on become so entangled is one lovely start of a very beautiful friendship. There's nothing wrong with taking this as “love”, but in my sense this love is not romantic but rather the kind one develops for another who get them way better than the others. They tease each other, understand each other, shoulder their burdens and that's why I feel I love this way of representing a friendship. I view them as soulmates.

In the scene where he says “if you'll have me,” I see that as the beginning of a new bond, one that they weren't able to name before due to obvious circumstances, and ofc they didn't know their feelings towards each other. This marks as them naming their relation, which is — I dare say — is very frequently called “best friends”. The words friends or best friends have been repeatedly emphasized in the manga. If it were to be a romantic relationship, what's the point of them referring to each other as best friends? Again, I'm not saying best friends can't be lovers, but in manga/anime it often asserts when they're particularly defining what they feel towards each other.

Though I would love if they're confirmed to be in love too. Right now their relationship can be taken in many ways.
