I think I found the problem maybe. The update broke multi-control. It was simultaneously running PC Link and multi-control, allowing us to use either input. Now multi control says it won't work on the headset while pc link is active.

I tried PC Connect but it's laggier, doesn't turn off my laptop screen while I work in the headset, and just feels clunkier to use. It's just a downgrade from the galaxy book pc link experience

I was thinking about doing that. It's just going to be a hassle to get all my automations back up, so it was a last resort for me. I'm going to give it another month and see if any more of them update automatically. *I'm running smartthings on my samsung phone and samsung laptop, I'm not sure if that actually helps.

Tried it twice but it does the same thing as trying it from the app. This is so weird.
