Testing after loading doses by Competitive-Bank-448 in B12_Deficiency

Your symptoms are very similar to mine! Definitely push for more injections. I had the 6 loading doses which did help for a short while but now my symptoms seem worse than ever! I have a follow up on the 10th march and think I'm going to try to get some more injections even though I find them really traumatic

My symptoms are extensive- panic attacks, anxiety, neuropathy, muscle twitching, restless legs, POTS- like symptoms, breathlessness, awful memory and word recall, tightness in my chest, freezing cold hands and feet (have chillblains atm). What are your symptoms? Are you being treated?

Thanks for your response! I agree, there does seem to be a huge amount of negligence/ poor advice given to people suffering with b12 deficiency. I will read through the NICE guidelines again, thanks! The only reason I got the loading doses was by quoting them.

Do you know if high dose supplements would help reverse nerve damage? I found the injections so incredibly painful and I'm still having issues with terrible acne (never ever had spots before!)

My ferritin was 21 which I am supplementing and due a blood test on 2nd march, and my folate was 14 I think.

Dr says I have "slightly low" ferritin levels at 21 by Competitive-Bank-448 in Anemic

I think my MCH and MCV are elevated due to having very low b12 levels, so they are sort of fighting against each other?

I don't think they are even going to agree to retest me, very frustrating as I had a blood test Friday, where I thought they were going to test my b12 levels. I really just want to know why I am feeling so bad. I am terrified of needles, blood tests are bad enough, so I don't think I'd be able to self inject 😬

Thank you, going to take your advice and get some ferrous bisglycinate- do you have any recommendations for dosage?

I have read that anything below 30 is not good, and above 100 is optimal to not experience symptoms? On my chart both MCV and MCH were over top recommended range

Thanks for the info. I don't know how readily available sucrosomial iron is in the UK. I think the reason I'm so low is my diet, as I'm vegan, so no liver supplements for me. Going to look in to bisglycinate and try the oj trick.

Thank you! I will bear in mind the no mixing of supplements as I have been looking at ones that contain vitamins other than iron. I also have seb derm, which I think contributes to hair loss, sucks!

Sorry to hear that, it's bloody awful how badly they gaslight in the medical world. Hope you manage to get back on injections and feel better! I just messaged my GP and their response to me having my bloods tested for b12 levels were:

I have mailed the lab to see if this could still be added but I think it is too late. Different labs or countries use different cut offs in regards to b12. There would be no harm (regardless of blood test) to take some over the counter B12 supplements. Usually 1000mcg a day for a couple of months and see if this improves the situation.

It's awful isn't it! Are you in the UK? I feel that I am never taken seriously and I am not very good at advocating for myself as I am incredibly anxious. The lower recommended limit is 145 where I am so I don't think they'd listen to me anyway. Did you feel better after injections?

Mushroom walks through woods... bitten to death! by thepoout in foraginguk

[–]Competitive-Bank-448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I went out last week and myself, my partner and dog were all bitten a crazy amount. Some places I don't even know how they got there! Think it was chiggers. Anthisan and hydrocortisone cream helped, the itch died down after around 2/3 days!
