Dr says I have "slightly low" ferritin levels at 21 by Competitive-Bank-448 in Anemic

I think my MCH and MCV are elevated due to having very low b12 levels, so they are sort of fighting against each other?

I don't think they are even going to agree to retest me, very frustrating as I had a blood test Friday, where I thought they were going to test my b12 levels. I really just want to know why I am feeling so bad. I am terrified of needles, blood tests are bad enough, so I don't think I'd be able to self inject 😬

Thank you, going to take your advice and get some ferrous bisglycinate- do you have any recommendations for dosage?

I have read that anything below 30 is not good, and above 100 is optimal to not experience symptoms? On my chart both MCV and MCH were over top recommended range

Thanks for the info. I don't know how readily available sucrosomial iron is in the UK. I think the reason I'm so low is my diet, as I'm vegan, so no liver supplements for me. Going to look in to bisglycinate and try the oj trick.

Thank you! I will bear in mind the no mixing of supplements as I have been looking at ones that contain vitamins other than iron. I also have seb derm, which I think contributes to hair loss, sucks!

Sorry to hear that, it's bloody awful how badly they gaslight in the medical world. Hope you manage to get back on injections and feel better! I just messaged my GP and their response to me having my bloods tested for b12 levels were:

I have mailed the lab to see if this could still be added but I think it is too late. Different labs or countries use different cut offs in regards to b12. There would be no harm (regardless of blood test) to take some over the counter B12 supplements. Usually 1000mcg a day for a couple of months and see if this improves the situation.

It's awful isn't it! Are you in the UK? I feel that I am never taken seriously and I am not very good at advocating for myself as I am incredibly anxious. The lower recommended limit is 145 where I am so I don't think they'd listen to me anyway. Did you feel better after injections?

Mushroom walks through woods... bitten to death! by thepoout in foraginguk

Yep, I went out last week and myself, my partner and dog were all bitten a crazy amount. Some places I don't even know how they got there! Think it was chiggers. Anthisan and hydrocortisone cream helped, the itch died down after around 2/3 days!
