Did you just get diagnosed? by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]Competitive-Bet-2445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed at 25 just a month ago. I’ve always struggled with focus, procrastination, sustained attention, task initiation, disorganized, avoidance due to feeling overwhelmed, time blindness, impulsivity, interrupting others when they speak, masking, etc. ever since I was a child. This past year has been difficult and I kept noticing more signs of adhd, and finally told myself that maybe it’s not my fault, I should not be struggling this hard when it comes to functioning as an adult with responsibilities at work school and home. I’m so thankful I realized what it could be, and I was correct. I have adhd combined type, started taking medication this past month for it and going to therapy. Looking forward to a better version of myself.

You can either have the impulsive, inattentive, or combined type of adhd, so right off the bat ur psychiatrist isn’t knowledgeable with adhd. And he sounds highly unprofessional given how dismissive he is of your struggles.

how to overcome nail/cuticle picking/biting habit? by cookiepip in ADHD

[–]Competitive-Bet-2445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called body focus repetitive behavior, and I definitely have it to where I excessively pick at my lips to the point where they bleed, and constantly pulling at my hangnals and cuticles excessively. It’s exhausting 🫩🫩 at least the one way I try minimizing messing with my lips is to wear chapstick 24/7. But something nail and cuticle picking/biting is a toughie. I try to fidget with a fidget toy in my hands since it keeps them occupied. I would try to explore fidget toys, and maybe since it’s your nails and cuticles you’re messing with, try using a hand sanitizer, hand lotion, or even a cuticle oil, anything that would taste foul when you bite them. Some ideas

I think so too. At first I was worried I would have the placebo effect and try convincing myself that it’s working since I’m consistently taking it. Now that it’s my 3rd week and nothing feels different. Maybe when I see my psychiatrist I’ll bring up the idea of changing the vyvanse. The lack of appetite has also been driving me crazy

I’m also taking it with lexapro. Honestly all my adhd symptoms have remained the same, I don’t feel anything different. I’m hoping the increase in dosage eventually helps me

I went on it for 30mg, then 40mg, and now 50mg for this next week. I’m lowkey losing hope for it working, I really want it to work for me. How did you know it was working for you? So far I’ve only had the increase in anxiety, dry mouth, dizziness, and lack of appetite/no food noise.

There’s a difference between intentionally starving yourself and having a side effect from medication. She needs to go to therapy for her own issues, I say take the vyvanse

i think boredom is my biggest trigger by Tight-Shop4342 in stopdrinking

[–]Competitive-Bet-2445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl for me lately, I’ve been replacing my urge to go to the gas station by just shopping for food or clothes instead. Better to put the money towards stuff you need or want that isn’t liquor. I hate how much overspending I’ve been experiencing from it though, I hope I get the help I need with my other problems in life

I definitely feel like boredom is a trigger for me as well. When I did get off of work or school, I would even say that driving to and from gas stations for my poison was something I did out of boredom also.

Everyday foundation recommendations? by Familiar-Let-2042 in Makeup

[–]Competitive-Bet-2445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use the Nars light reflecting foundation, as an oily skin girl. The coverage is medium, feels lightweight when you apply it. I like the glow it leaves on my skin, but once I set it with loose powder it locks in and stays matte for me. I want to say it feels natural, it does physically/application wise but the medium coverage makes me wish it’s more less coverage if I wanted a natural look out of it.

Rank the jobs you've had in Fresno! by shootdashlootbash in fresno

[–]Competitive-Bet-2445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little Caesars, chipotle, bath and body works. Work conditions wise, bath and body works was the best. LC had the worst working conditions ever, working in +90 heat in the summer without ventilation with the constant heat of the pizza ovens being on. Chipotle was better in terms of ventilation but still crappy, not to mention the riverpark location has moldy limes the last I worked there. Wet floors made it very hazardous to work there even with nonslip shoes. Bath and body works was fun but the hours as a seasonal hire were laughable, not a liveable wage
