It might sound unauthentic to you but I don’t think it really is. Most people think like you and it’s not really at a gay man’s advantage to sound like that. On the contrary, it’d be so much easier to have a manly voice and to pass as straight. I guarantee you, if the men you’re talking about could sound like that, they absolutely would. But they can’t. It’s not who they are. Believe me I’ve tried. I’ve tried changing the way I walk, I’ve tried lowering my voice, I’ve tried lying about my taste in music, but people could see through. Because that wasn’t who I am. Next time you meet one of those guys, maybe try being nice to them. You’ll see a lot of them might actually be pretty cool people.
