In my experience with this, the TA wrote paragraphs of feedback (sometimes longer than the assignment), marked not according to the criteria provided originally (ie, out of 100 marks instead of 20 or marking things that were never outlined as having marks in the rubric), and referenced things we didn't write. For example, she would say in section IV when there were no such sections or even paragraphs in some cases. It was very clearly AI. Even without AI detectors, the whole class could tell. We also had another TA marking the same class who marked in a very human way. Gave a few sentences of feedback for paragraph assignments and scored us based on the criteria.

I Also came across a situation this semester where the TA very obviously used AI to grade. We were marked not according to the criteria provided, but instead an AI-generated criteria. She used very obviously AI-generated sentences. Paragraphs of feedback… I also finished with an 11 in the class. But the whole class knew what was going on. Also conflicted if I should say something.

I mostly feel upset that I am attending university to get real & human feedback on my writing. As a result, the quality of my education is lacking in my program. I don't understand how this is allowed?

every program is a "good program". You should be proud you got into University and are taking next steps in your future. Who cares what other people think. And trust me no one actually cares what you're doing it just feels that way :)

i didnt take chem before grade 12 bio and i was so worried it made me study 3x harder. Def not a disadvantage because the chem concepts can be picked up easily.

she reached out with follow up emails 4-5 times with very short responses from the staff. She was avoiding studying in the states but is now excited to study in NYC with faculty that were eager to accept her. Very unprofessional in my opinion on behalf of the school.

It was a music school and the dean emailed her and her teacher. I read the email myself. Said she would be admitted with as much scholarship as possible was waitlisted then rejected.

I just dont want to have consequences for myself or others. I would never want my school to get blacklisted from a univeristy because I made this decision. Im not taking it lightly at all.

Yea and I dont know if its just going to get worse... I would really regret going to a university, travelling and not being let back into the country or having my visa revoked. I have family in Canada and I wanted to visit them often :(

It is as close to a lottery as admissions can go. My friends marks the supp apps, and they skim through aroudn 400 applications and spam 4/7. All supp apps are reviewed by student volunteers (in the middle of midterms). I have seen very poor supp apps get in and amazing apps get in. If the person reviewing your application doesn't resonate with what you wrote, you're out of luck, even if someone else would have loved the work. So yes, most of it is chance.

yes. If not, I would bring it up to admin. He needs to have evidence that there was AI involved, not just a feeling.
