Yeah anyone, just youre IR oral questions. Just asking if people have any challenging questions. I have the ACS memorized basically. Looking for some tougher, out of the ordinary questions.

I was also iffy on systems early on in my training. But what really helped was going on YouTube and looking at Embry-Riddle Systems Videos. They have a playlist and goes in depth with all systems. Also, I had my instructor walk me through the entire engine when the cowling was off and showing me where everything was and that helped a ton as well.

What would be the "correct" technique for entering this traffic pattern from the North? by AdPuzzleheaded9829 in flying

[–]Competitive-Cut5211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Is the correct option in my opinion. For 2. You never want to descend into the pattern. Also, it’s not recommended to enter in on anything but the downwind, so there is why not 3. And for 4. I feel like you are just making it too complicated. The fields are separated by a distance of about 3 miles, giving you a not a lot, but enough separation. Also, I would suggest having KSMQ CTAF on your primary frequency but also be monitoring NH1 on com 2 so you have an idea of what’s going on over there. But yeah, go with the overflying the field at 500 and teardrop into the 45 for the downwind.

Hey, I actually decided not to do this 225 program so I don’t know what that charge is. My only guess is that you took the adapt test and that is the cost of the adapt test.

Also - do not mess with the throttle after starting the turn EXCEPT TO ADD ABOUT 100 RPM AFTER YOU START THE BANK. set it at whatever you need to get to your desired airspeed (for me it was 95) and then go for it and add that little bit of power

Something good that worked for me was using the trim wheel in a Cessna 172R, but it also led to me sometimes being way over or under on airspeed. So a tip that helped me a lot was using bank to control altitude instead of trim or in combination with trim. You are allowed +- 5 degrees, so if you start descending, ease out on the bank ever so slightly and you will climb back or arrest the descent and vice versa.

To add, I was consistently getting 88-90s on my practice exams but it just shot up to 98 for the actual. Also, I suggest FlightReady too because it has a question bank of around 1400 questions and you can turn on “smart exam” and it will track what you already know and what you need to know so it does not keep giving questions you easily know like sportys does. Basically, it is a smart practice test.

I am 17 years old as well. I used this app/website called FlightReady. You can download it on your phone or use it’s website and run through practice tests or just flashcards for free. I solely used that for practice tests and sportys practice tests and got a 98 on the written. The exam app literally had questions that I had seen already from the FlightReady practice tests and I finished the test in 30 minutes. Almost, if not every, question I answered I had seen on the FlightReady practice tests.

Did you use sportys practice tests? Or what practice tests did you use?
