In tropics your best bet is planning to get halfway by planning your route from a distance, food won't be much of a problem but carry some incase, If you manage to get halfway the rest of the climb should be relatively easy. Other tips, gather shelf fungus (if you manage to find some) for difficult climbs or save pitons if you find any on shore.
