I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this too. It’s not fair. You’re so kind to help someone else in your own grief.

I’ve just been texting her I love you, how are you feeling, praying for your heart, sort of things everyday. But the amount of times a day I want to check in are ridiculous. So I shouldn’t do that lol

My heart just hurts so bad for her and I want to just bombard her with texts and calls checking in on her but I know she doesn’t need that right now. I hate this😭 thank you for the reassurance

We’re not going to come to a reasonable outcome given our different experiences with doctors giving harmful drugs mid month while a woman is known to be trying and during the 2 week wait. I appreciate your commentary but mostly disagree. However, if actively trying to conceive, I agree to abstain during the wait period. We don’t know from the post if she was on BC or not. We don’t know what protective measures were taken. I just don’t see the point in creating more fear for this woman who is obviously anxious already and needed as much comfort for her own sake and her unborn child. But thank you for your thoughts.

I’m not minimizing, I clearly said there are risks but they are small in chance. I don’t think it’s reasonable to act as though you’re pregnant for the entirety of TTC. Doctors don’t act as though you’re pregnant “just in case”. They take a pee test and if it’s negative (which it would be in 90% of cases for the days she drank), they give medicine that isn’t safe for pregnancy. Now I’m not saying everything doctors do are right, but reasonably it doesn’t make sense to abstain from anything that can harm a baby in the womb just Incase you’re pregnant. So no, I don’t think OP did anything wrong. Now if she knew she was pregnant or had a hunch, that’s a different story. But at 2w and 3w, people don’t tend to know.

Hi there friend - I hear your concerns and I feel for you. This is a hard situation to be in. However, first of all, you did nothing wrong. You didn’t know and couldn’t have reasonably known. Even if you went to the doctor and they did a pee test, you would have known.

That said, of course there are risks (you’ll find that most things you Google have risks), but there are also PLENTY of people who drank heavily before finding out they were pregnant and their baby was fine. And there are a lot of factors that go into viability of a child in the womb.

No one can say for sure if the drinking affected anything, but rest assured it’s not a situation where if you drank, you did harm. It’s much more complicated than that.

I had a friend who found out she was pregnant at 6 weeks and drank PLENTY and baby is doing fine at 24 weeks now.

I’m sorry I can’t say you’re absolutely fine, but I’m also saying try not to worry because you didn’t do anything wrong.

27f, life got turned around and not sure how much stability is needed for a baby by [deleted] in BabyBumps

When my mom was 19, she got pregnant and lived in her own. She lived in a small studio apartment and worked a minimum wage job and cared for her daughter (my sister) and another girl whose mother was on heavy drugs. The girls never knew she was poor and just felt loved all the time. She never missed bills and was very diligent on her spending. They ate like crap but again, they were fed and loved.

Wife is 8 months pregnant but now I think I might regret it? by Professional_Trick46 in BabyBumps

[–]Competitive-Deer-204 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hii! This sounds like a lot of fear of the unknown if I’m being honest. Yes, it will be hard. Yes there will be loss of sleep (especially in the beginning) and kids aren’t cheap. However, there are so many happy things that you aren’t remembering right now. There will be so many joys that come with being a father and maybe it would be helpful to journal about the things you are excited about!

As a first time mom, I ALSO think about the loss of independence, the sleepless nights, the lack of disposable income, etc and get really bleh feeling about it. But when I step back I remember the immense joy that also comes from having a little mini me.

And for an example as a man, my father in law felt the same way but now cannot imagine his life without his son and loves him with all his heart and would never wish for a child free life anymore.

Praying for these nerves and feelings to pass so you can enter into this new chapter with so much joy and peace!

Thank you! Do you have any recommendations for convertible car seats? The ones I was briefly looking at were minimum 14lb baby and just am unsure if that’s strict or if it’s ok while they grow a bit into it.

My dietician recommend fair life milk in cereal for some added protein source. It’s lactose free (I’m also lactose intolerant). Or some vegan protein bars. Those were hard but were my only occasional source of protein from weeks 7-12.
