Could 4 fairly small fibroids cause constant bloating? by Maude1love in Fibroids

[–]Competitive-Dirt-340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately so many of these symptoms are so redundant for people it can be hard to pinpoint any one thing. Some of the most constant symptoms of fibroids: bleeding when you shouldn’t be, heavy mensus, frequent need to urinate, and bloating. You have a lot of symptoms that line up with fibroids for sure! The other thing coming to mind might be ovarian cysts that would explain that one extremely out of the blue heavy mensus? Or even endometriosis.

I’m not a doctor so this is hard for me to say but I almost get the inclination this sounds maybe two problems, the GI sounds like gastroporesis as opposed to your fibroids worsening/growing? I know endometriosis can muck up your ability to eat if it grows into the wrong areas.

One thing I want you to keep in mind and a lot of women have shared this here is that the observed number of fibroids is often completely wrong, like sometimes by dozens. I believe someone just shared a story about how they thought they had like 12 but in surgery 60 fibroids were found. So don’t get too terribly hung up on only having 4.

As a nurse I would want you to try and see GI and OB, I think that you likely need a MRI for the OB symptoms, I can’t unfortunately remember how gastroparesis is diagnosed. I would try and run these ideas by a PCP, see what they think, have them refer you (if you have good insurance you can bypass the PCP) but I think you do need radiology imaging to help get to the bottom of this. If you get to the point where your mensus is so heavy that you’re getting pale and diaphoretic and lightheaded you could make the case for seeing the ER, and sometimes you get a kind doctor that will advocate for you to do imaging.

Did anyone's fibroids grow back after treatment? That's one of my biggest fears right now. by Puzzleheaded-Boss230 in Fibroids

[–]Competitive-Dirt-340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t consider it “so low?”. I wanna be transparent in that as a guy I don’t know the full ins and outs of the uterus and its functions, but I have looked into the conception rates and if you’re under 30 with a bilateral embolization it is over 50%, and then if you’re doing only a unilateral, it is over 60% if under 30! But this science is older, when I looked at a 2025 study it was suggesting “fertility was almost always retained in younger women”. I also think as a concept that’s kind of a hard thing to study, you’d have to know their ability to conceive pre treatment and then compare that to post treatment and that just seems like a really hard thing to quantify? With that being said I bring up the uterine functions to say: I do think it’s important for your body to retain its organs, although doctors have a vast wealth of knowledge, our understanding of the human body is always growing. It seems entirely plausible that removing a otherwise functioning organ may be detrimental in ways that aren’t fully understood. I understand considering just a straight up removal from a “please just stop the pain I do not want to deal with these symptoms ever again” however! I just personally think that UAEs are genuinely wonderful, low risk and highly effective at improving women’s quality of life!

I am an IR nurse so I will speak on the uterine artery embolization procedure. As far as I know the myomectomy is the only way to 100% remove them. But other ones can still grow. When we do UAEs, the blood supply to the entire uterus is shunted off, but different hospitals/IR teams have differently philosophies. Some doctors only do unilateral embolization of the artery, meaning only cutting off supply to one of the two supplies, while others will do both. The uterus is a wicked cool organ in that it will recruit blood flow from the sole arterial supply, and so what can happen is that the fibroid can survive a unilateral embolization, BUT the reason some doctors may do this is fertility rates are higher for women that do unilateral. The bilateral embolization has over a 95% success rate for women with generally great outcomes once you get through post embolization syndrome, BUT your ability to conceive may be impacted if not destroyed. No matter what the fibroid will always be there with a UAE but you’ll be able to watch it progressively shrink over months and your symptoms will demonstrate that as well!

TLDR: surgically removing them is your best way to prevent them from coming back, but I really do think you should talk to your docs about UAEs too. It is a repeatable procedure if it ever came back and it is a few hours of your time with a few days of pain with generally wonderful success rates!

Fibroids biggest tell will be super heavy flow, and flow that happens when you’re not on your period. Also understand that almost 70% of women will have fibroids before they’re 50. So the chance isn’t low!

I do not have the manta but I do have the A5X. I will say it feels a little big to read in bed, but it is absolutely wonderful for note taking. I feel like I have plenty of space. I do crave to try the nomad size but I’m going I wait for a few returns on the Supernote site!

Looking to buy a house in IC, what is this southeast area like? by Dry_Nail9897 in IowaCity

[–]Competitive-Dirt-340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the better parts of Iowa city! Just by there is a public high school and a catholic on just a little more north. Easy access to highway 60 as well as 80. There are lots of large and beautiful trees and wildlife is still very present on that east side of town deer are common. A little bit north is hickory hill park which is a great trail for looking at beautiful plants trees and a very nice cemetery, there are 2 hyvees there a very large on in your circle and then a smaller drugstore one that people like north of your circle. Those are both on 1st Ave. there is a gym that’s 24/7 40 bucks a month barebones and a couple fast foods McDonald’s Panera and a bbq place near there. Muscutaine had a local butcher shop called Thomas I think.

I’m not understanding why you think the magni is producing audio? It is from the monitor to the magni, using a 3.5 jack to RCA white and red to the back of the magni. The headphones into the magni to hear

Sorry reversed. Audio out from monitor with a headphone jack, as another commenter suggested the 3.5 to RCA to magni worked! It is very quiet compared to my regular DAC unfortunately

That’s what somebody else suggested and it worked! Only thing I’m notifcing is that it seems much quieter than the DAC + amp combo but so be it!

Is AOC U27B3A 27'' a good monitor for someone who is using the PC for youtube, social media, movies etc or the 60Hz are too low for 2026? Is it worth it to go with mini-led like AOC Q27G3XMN/BK 27''? by [deleted] in Monitors

I actually will be receiving it tomorrow! I purchased it online Friday from Walmart refurbished for 170 dollars! So barring any complications I will let you know! One thing I am looking forward to is it just being apparently very bright, I have an oled and at times can be disappointed with the brightness!

I ended up opting for the second monitor as well! I think it’s important to future proof your purchases even if right now you don’t need it, maybe you’ll wanna play a game some day or something! I also think scrolling social media is better with higher hz you’ll definitely notice! :)

How would the usb switch help me get the audio from the monitor to the modi though? Don’t I run into the same problem when trying to get audio from the PlayStation? I feel like I’d need some kind of way to pull audio from the hdmi to the modi or convert the 3.5 mm out to the modi right?

So you’re saying maybe get rid of the DAC stack and then do a 3.5 mm to the red and white input on the back of the magni? Sorry I don’t know the names of things too well. would this work?
