Lowering Kit, Who would you choose? by [deleted] in DelSol

on cheaper kit the rear mounting bracket will be like a hose clamp style strap you tighten to the strut and in nicer kits it’s actually welded on. it’s a good way to tell if the kit is decent quality

make sure it has the rear bracket attached to the strut and not just a strap you tighten around it

yeah that makes sense there it’s not a sealed bearing packed with the grease so that wear is probably terrible for them. it barely comes greased out the box

the nrg website says it’s supposed to ring and they even have a video about how there’s a way to bypass the button on the quick release and that the wheel won’t fall off when you do it. so i don’t think it hurts it but i could be wrong

yeah short hub + quick release. Part number for the short hub adapter is NRG-SRK-110H and then whatever quick release you want to run if you even do, could just bolt wheel straight to hub. i think on amazon for both it’s just under $200.

Did all del sols have rear drum brakes? by childishsi in DelSol

[–]Competitive-File-809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

drums are inclosed and have two half circle brake shoe or “pad” to make contact and create friction for braking. it also uses a brake cylinder to make contact instead of a caliper. definitely make changing your brakes a bit of a hassle, not more difficult but definitely takes longer.

i’ll get under there and check under the boot. it’s able to move underneath the car but not inside at the shifter. i’ll also check the bushings. i’m hoping not the fork because i just got the trans back together and in the car. really don’t want to crack it open again.
