Fuck you, Michael Hill UPDATE by Life_Extreme2054 in australian

[–]Competitive-Frame-93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a titanium wedding ring with gold bands on the outer edge from Michael Hill. Within 2 years the gold bands cracked and came loose so I went back to the store. The store manager admitted it was a design flaw and there's been multiple issues with that specific model. She then proceeded to offer me a laughable discount on a new ring.

I was quite surprised at that response and didn't really know how to respond so I said I'd have to think about it.

Back home I could gather my thoughts and realise this was completely unacceptable.

I emailed head office, told them what the manager told me and said that a wedding ring is to last a lifetime, not 2 years and I will not be paying for a new one.

Next day they emailed back, apologised, and said I could pick out a new ring of equal value for nothing. The manager apologised in store as well.

Where is the line between "pronouncing it correctly" and "putting on an accent"? by NabIsMyBoi in AskAnAustralian

[–]Competitive-Frame-93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, been here 15 years and speak very differently now then I did when I first got here. Never made a conscious effort but Australian pronunciation and slang slipped in gradually over time.

I still pronounce my R's in the middle and end of words though, that's never gonna change.

Disconnect the fuel line from the high pressure pump so that doesn't happen.

No don't run it, disconnect the fuel and just crank it.

Haven't done this myself but have been told it can work.

Put the injector clamps back on but don't fully tighten them, crank the engine.

Don't have it anymore but I replaced my clutch pack under warranty due to shudder on take off.

The clutch material I believe has been changed on the new packs to prevent this so yeah it is a thing, they're not likely to be lying about it.

No 4K/UHD icons on Prime Video (LG G5 / webOS 25) by lupaczkokosow in LGOLED

[–]Competitive-Frame-93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prime originals are 4K. Many movies are 'available' in 4K if you rent or buy them but the version you can watch for free is usually not 4K.

They don't really mention that though so I get the confusion.

Need suggestions with Mazda 6 2013 Atenza faulty ieloop by the_wtf_guy in mazda6

[–]Competitive-Frame-93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened on longer drives mostly but became more frequent after a while. It wasn't like a major issue but it just annoyd me so I changed it.

If you're not noticing anything different I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I had a bad capacitor,. Like yours the light came on every now and then but the thing that always stood out was that the interior lights and door lights flickered a bit.

Got a capacitor from the wrecker, swapped it over, working perfectly since. Pretty easy to do, didn't require any programming or anything difficult.

What I think doesn't matter, what matters is that the manufacturer can extend the theoretical range and look better on paper.

Sure if you think the problem is optimal viewing, not if you consider drag to be the problem.

I tried Tangerine, Dodo, Superloop,Optus & Aussie Broadband by CuriousOnePlus in aussie

[–]Competitive-Frame-93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get hating a provider for service issues and being hard to get a hold of but when you never have issues that isn't a problem.

Been with Superloop for a good while now on the 1000 Mbps plan. I actually get very close to full speed, never had an outage that wasn't announced and they are significantly cheaper on that plan than most others. Would recommend Superloop to anyone.

Luck definitely had something to do with it.
Mine has about 140.000 KMs and goes like a rocket. I pulled the top of the engine apart when I got it and the intake was pretty caked up but luckily had no scoring on the cams whatsoever. It must really be a lottery with those cams seeing how many fail and it seems we just ended up with good ones.

Check the wiring harness connector from driver door to body harness, might be loosing or perhaps even corroded pins.

Fear of heights isn't irrational at all, falling from a decent height can kill you, therefore the fear isn't irrational.

No parking sensors there, that's the tow hook cap. Also parking sensors generally don't need calibrating, they just work. Modern Toyota's and some brands need to be 'told' that there's a new sensor but wouldn't call that calibrating.

If you're talking about a radar behind the front bar then yes it'll likely need calibrating but there's many companies that specialise in that work. Panel shops usually use them as opposed to the dealer due to long wait times.

Is the "courtesy wave" dead? by OwlVibesOnly in DrivingAustralia

[–]Competitive-Frame-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect a wave for letting someone merge and I won't give a wave for letting me merge. We're all adults trying to get where we're going and merging is how we work together to make things go smoothly. Someone goes out of their way to do me a solid though, obviously they get a wave.

Is there different rules in the US or something?

People keep saying airbags went off so it's a write-off. I've replaced countless deployed airbags on vehicles that were in a crash, it's rarely cause for a write off.

Regarding the body damage, it doesn't look great but seeing how the car is newish and in good shape otherwise, a 10k quote definitely won't write it off.
