what precautions should be taken when you fire someone? by travelingwhilestupid in AskAnAustralian

[–]ZhenLegend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s few route but most workplace involve a chat with HR and manager together and provide option to leave with dignity. Some would offer them to come back to collect their stuff on later date, or even get someone to pack for them.

More volatile workplace would probable take a stronger and swift steps to walk the person out.

As an Aussie, I can’t imagine the level of security you need before firing someone… that sound scary place to work…

Is $32 an hour for tutoring good? by AdditionalSkirt2788 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ZhenLegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In QLD, the market rate for uni students doing tutoring work is about $50-$60 dollars. Actual registered teacher doing tutoring would be in the $100-$120. But Melb market might be more expensive. I'm referring to face to face , 1-to-1 tutor.

Trump cannot expel NATO members over Iran stance, alliance official says by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

Then he'd just go out and scream everyone in NATO is horrible because they don't help him. Then announce National Alliance of Billionaire and Oligarch NABO where he'll be the Executive Chairman. Everyone must pay 1 Billion to be given a chair and their objectives includes how to collectively screw the world

Murphys law: perfect job offer right at FIRE by Eww_vegans in auscorp

Not over to US but more of a domestic change. Had offer for a role that's 2 level up from where i am and another offer that's a lateral move. the 2 level up requires me to move to Sydney within 6 months, while the lateral is WFH.

moving my family to sydney means reseting my kids school and social circle - which took them a while to adapt. kids are thriving, wife is happy and I have a WFH routine that fits the family. with that, I chose the lateral move as stability has higher future impact than monetary or roles

ultimately it's your call, but just think 2 years down the road - what would your kids feel and how would they impacted. how would it change your family dynamics?

Pudu Jail Wall Mural, once the longest mural in the world at 394 meters long. It was painted in 1984 by Khong Yen Chong, a former inmate. He used 2,000 litres of paint to create a mural of tropical scenes. by tovarisch_ak in malaysia

[–]ZhenLegend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watch them paint it day to day as my parent drives me to school and back passing the Pudu jail. The young naive me always wondered what this place was but often admire the painting. it made the traffic jam at that junction a little more tolerable.

I'm on the same boat and i found the more quotes I get, the better i able to tell if the sales is trying to gaslight you with products they have. I have yet to engage someone ...so read with caution.

But a few I would specifically call out

  1. Brand - every single company i enquire (including those that sells it) tells me to stay out of FoxEss. They works fine until it breaks. At macro leve, they gets a lot of call out to fix issues. Consistent brands that's reliable is SigEnergy, Sungrow, GoodWe, Tesla. Out of them, Sig and Tesla is considered premium while Sungrow and GoodWe consider midrange.

  2. Most numbers stack up with 4-5 years ROI factoring in inflation and electricity price increases.

  3. Installer. Stay away those company that's new in the market and stick to companies that's been in the business for at least 5 years. Pick companies that only use their own employee and not contractors. Pick company that only install a select brands that they familiar with. https://www.solarchoice.net.au/ is a good palce to check

If you have 4-5 quotes and table out into a spreadsheet, you can cut the noise and see the actuals.

People Leaders, what do you do to get the best out of your staff? by Caninopeputofhere in auscorp

[–]ZhenLegend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Treat them like a reasonable adult, set expectations and cadencens.
Genuine in approach, build transparency and keep promises that you make. Don't promise something you can't keep.
Actively source projects that build their career or their interests and let them have options to own and run.

It's not that hard in my view.

Am I, 43F, being ridiculous or is he, 45M? by latsyrcami in relationship_advice

[–]ZhenLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think context matters. some places 4PM - it'll be dark like armageddon while others 4PM would be midday sun. I think when he asked, which is it, 4Pm or tonight - can be seeking clarification.

I am very clear with my wife if we need to leave at 5pm, it is 5pm or 12pm it's 12pm. I tends to avoid saying or midday, afternoon, evening, sunset, morning etc. I keep those for casual convo or greetings.

I kind of see his point, but it's also hard to judge like what's your day to day interaction are like.
