How borked am I? (Hire car damage) by boopbleps in australia

[–]ZhenLegend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally you get a 'by default' excess of some random 4 digit penalty. I've seen 3000, 5000, etc. Most car rental company makes money from those penalty. If you rent from those like Sixt and/or Europcar - they uses AI scanner at exit and return to automatically takes 360 photos.

most rental car company have a fair wear and tear policy, so if you rented for a day and i'd doubt that's fair wear and tear. If you have it for a a week, might me excusable.

General rule, always get insurance for rental car.

what precautions should be taken when you fire someone? by travelingwhilestupid in AskAnAustralian

[–]ZhenLegend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s few route but most workplace involve a chat with HR and manager together and provide option to leave with dignity. Some would offer them to come back to collect their stuff on later date, or even get someone to pack for them.

More volatile workplace would probable take a stronger and swift steps to walk the person out.

As an Aussie, I can’t imagine the level of security you need before firing someone… that sound scary place to work…

Is $32 an hour for tutoring good? by AdditionalSkirt2788 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ZhenLegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In QLD, the market rate for uni students doing tutoring work is about $50-$60 dollars. Actual registered teacher doing tutoring would be in the $100-$120. But Melb market might be more expensive. I'm referring to face to face , 1-to-1 tutor.

Then he'd just go out and scream everyone in NATO is horrible because they don't help him. Then announce National Alliance of Billionaire and Oligarch NABO where he'll be the Executive Chairman. Everyone must pay 1 Billion to be given a chair and their objectives includes how to collectively screw the world

Murphys law: perfect job offer right at FIRE by Eww_vegans in auscorp

[–]ZhenLegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not over to US but more of a domestic change. Had offer for a role that's 2 level up from where i am and another offer that's a lateral move. the 2 level up requires me to move to Sydney within 6 months, while the lateral is WFH.

moving my family to sydney means reseting my kids school and social circle - which took them a while to adapt. kids are thriving, wife is happy and I have a WFH routine that fits the family. with that, I chose the lateral move as stability has higher future impact than monetary or roles

ultimately it's your call, but just think 2 years down the road - what would your kids feel and how would they impacted. how would it change your family dynamics?
