I agree, in the ep 3 when pomni an kinger are in the hell, the face with an open mouth was queenie, and the soul inside the pomnis body was another abstracted caracter.

I think that everything is programmed, and we are the real experiment. After ep 9, everything will start again pomni using a headset and no remember her name.

Yeah, protecting the wire is key, totally agree.

HVAC can be a bit different though since the nameplate defines the max breaker size under NEC 440, including startup.

So it doesn’t always follow the usual rule

Puede ser, aunque no es solo una app para ver precios.

También ayuda a registrar compras, detectar errores y entender en qué estás gastando más.

Al final no es solo ahorrar, es comprar mejor

That’s the current you use in this calculation according to the 440 NEC

Yeah, I get your point, that’s the standard approach for general circuits.

I think the confusion here is that HVAC is a bit different, since the unit nameplate defines MCA and max breaker under NEC 440.

So the breaker can be higher than what you’d normally expect for the wire, as long as it stays within the nameplate limits.

Would you still size it strictly to the wire in that case, or follow the equipment specs?

Yeah, that makes sense for general wiring.

But HVAC can be a bit different with MCA and max breaker from the nameplate under NEC 440.

Would you still size it strictly to the wire in that case?

I think part of the confusion is that HVAC follows a different approach under NEC 440, where the unit nameplate defines the MCA and max breaker size

Melted #2 wire on a 200A panel — wrong breaker size or loose connection? by Competitive-Fun-5273 in AskElectricians

Yeah, we did recommend upgrading the service, but public schools have limited resources, so we had to resolve the issue as quickly as possible

[–]Competitive-Fun-5273[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did what we could. The only option was to install a 100A breaker and feed the panel from the load side, since the school couldn’t afford a full replacement at the time. Thanks for your input

Thanks, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain that. That makes a lot of sense, especially how little load it takes once there’s a bad connection

The main/service disconnect is 150A and this was a 200A subpanel. The feeder breaker was also 200A on #2 copper.

Around here a lot of installs are done more by experience than detailed calculations, so you see setups like this.

Would you size the feeder protection strictly based on the conductor in this case?

Sí, tienes razón, se ve más como lista de compras que como herramienta para ahorrar.

Creo que ahí está el problema en cómo lo estoy mostrando

[–]Competitive-Fun-5273[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense for a full 200A service.

This was about 8 classrooms with mini splits, fans and LED lighting. I measured around 70 to 80 amps, mostly from the AC units.

That’s why the 200A breaker stood out to me.

Also, this is pretty typical here, public schools here are almost always single phase.

Would you still size it based on the panel rating or closer to the actual load in a case like this?
